Very good collection of articles for undergrads and above. Also very good for teachers of Caribbean history. Divided into several useful sections pertaining to different aspects of Caribbean societies under slavery beginning with revisionist discourses on Caribbean indigenes. The section offering 4 slave narratives including messages from Toussaint L'Ouverture, could have benefited from 1 or 2 articles discussing uses and disadvantages of slave narratives. However, this book (like all readers) presents the student with an opportunity to read original material from authors they might not otherwise have read.
