GENESIS. Jofeph is hated by his brethren.

16 Duke Korah, duke Gatam, and duke Amalek: these are the dukes that came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; the fe were the fons of Adah.

31 And these are the kings that reign= ed in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Ifrael. 32 And Bela the fon of Beor reigned in Edom and the name of his city was Dinhabah.

33 And Bela died, and Jobab the fon of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his ftead. 34 And Jobab died, and Hufham of the land of Temani reigned in his ftead.

35 And Hufham died, and Hadad the fon of Bedad, who fmote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his flead: and the name of his city was Avith.

36 And Hadad died, and Samlah of Mafrekah reigned in his ftead.

$7 And Samlah died, and Saul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his ftead. 38 And Saul died, and Baalhanan the fon of Achbor reigned in his stead.

23 And the children of Shobal were thefe; Alvan, and Manahath, and Ebal | Canaan. Shepho, and Ónam.

21 These are the generations of Jacob. 24 And these are the children of Zib-Jofeph, being feventeen years old, was con; both Ajah, and Anah: this was feeding the flock with his brethren; and that Anah that found the mules in the the lad was with the fons of Bilhah, and wilderness, as he fed the affes of Zibeon with the fons of Zilpah, his father's his father. wives and Jofeph brought unto his father their evil report.

25 And the children of Anah were thefe; Dishon, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah.

And when his brethren faw that their father loved him more than all his breth ren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.

51 And Jofeph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.

6 And he faid unto them, Hear I pray you, this dream which I have dreamied:

29 And Reuben returned unto the pit; and, behold. Jofeph was not in the pit; and he rent his clothes.

30 And he returned unto his brethren, and faid, The child is not; and 1; whither hall I go?

51 And they took Jofeph's coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood;

32 And they fent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to heir father; and faid, ihis have we found: know now whether it be thy fon's coat or no.

33 And he knew it, and faid, It is my fon's coat; an evil beaft hath devoured him; Jofeph is without doubt rent in. pieces

21 And Reuben heard it, and he deliv. ered him out of their hands; and faid, Let us not kill him.

35 And all his fons and all his daughters rofe up to comfort him; but he refufed to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my fon, mourning. Thus his father wept för him.

36 And the Midianites fold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh's, and captain of the guard.

CHAP. XXXVIII.

Judah bagetreth Er, Guan, and Shelah 6 Er marrieth Tamar, 8 the trtjpaks of Onan. 12 Judah's incef with Tamar, AND it came to pafs at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain Adelamite, whofe name was Hirah.

92 And Reuben faid unto them, Shed no blood, but caft him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon 2 And Judah faw there a daughter of him; that he might rid him out of their a certain Canaanite, whofe name hands, to deliver him to his father a-Shuah; and he took her, and he went in gain.

23 And it came to pafs, when Jofeph was come unto his brethren, that they

Jofeph's advancement. was openly by the way fide? and they faid, There was no harlot in this place.

22 And he returned to Judah, and faid, I cannot find her; and also the men of the place faid, that there was no harlot in this place.

5 And the yet again conceived, and bare a fon; and called his name Shelah : and he was at Chezib, when the bare him. 6 ¶ And Judah took a wife for Er his firft-born, whofe name was Tamar. 7 And Er Judah's firft-born, was wick-her, left we be ashamed: behold, I fent ed in the fight of the LORD; and the LORD flew him.

8 And Judah faid unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife and marry her, and raise up feed to thy brother.

9 And Onan knew that the feed fhould not be his; and it came to pafs, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he fpilled it on the ground, left that he fhould give feed to his brother.

23 And Judah faid, Let her take it to

this kid, and thou haft not found her.

24 And it came to pafs about three months after, that it was told Judah, faying, Tamar thy daughter-in-law hath played the harlot and alfo behold, the is with child by whoredom. And Judah faid, Bring her forth: and let her be burnt.

25When he was brought forth, the fent to her father-in-law, faying, By the man whofe thefe are, am I with child and fhe faid, Difcern, I pray thee, whose are thefe, the fignet, and bracelets, and staff.

Chap. xl. Leo was upon all that he had in the boule and in the field.

He interpreteth dreams. 41 mitted to Jofeph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prifon; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it. 23 The keeper of the prifon looked not

8 But he refufed, and faid unto his mafter's wife, Behold, my after wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he bath committed all that he hath to my hand ;

3 There is none greater in this houfe than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife; How then can I do this great wickednefs, and fin against God?

10 And it came to pafs, as the fpake to Jofeph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be

with her.

CHAP. XL.

The burler and baker of Pharaoh are imprisoned. 4 Joseph bath charge of bem 5 He interpreteth their dreams. ANDit came to pafs after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.

2 And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.

3 And he put them in ward in the houfe of the captain of the guard, into the prifon, the place where Jofeph was bound. ́8. And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Jofeph faid unto them,

not interpretations belong to God? Tell ute them, I pray you.

9 And the chief butler told his dream to Jofeph, and faid unto him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;

10 And in the vine were three branch. es: and it was as though it budded, and her blotions bot forth and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:

11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand and I took the grapes, and preffed 19 And it came to pafs, when his maf-thera into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the ter heard the words of his wife, which cup into Pharaoh's hand, the fpake unto him, faying, After this manner did thy fervant to me; that his wrath was kindled.

20 And Jofeph's mafter took him, and put him into the prifon, a place where the king's prifoners were bound; and he was there in the prifon.

12 And Jofeph faid unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three bran ches are three days;

13 Yet within three days fhall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former 21 But the LORD was with Jofeph, and manner when thou wat his butler. thewed him mercy, and gave him favour 14 But think on me when it fhall be well in the fight of the keeper of the prifon: with thee, and thew kindness, I pra, thee, And the keeper of the prifon com-junto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh

Pharaoh's two dreams.

19 Yet within three days hall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and fhall hang thee on a tree; and the birds thall eat thy flesh from off thee.

11 And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each mat according to the interpretation of his dream.

12 And there was there with us a young man, ar Hebrew, fervant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to cach man according to his dream he did interpret.

13 And it came to pals, as he interpreted to us, fo it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he banged.

14 Then Pharaoh fent and called Tofeph, and they brought him haitily out the dungeon: and he shaved bimelf and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.

20 And it came to pass the third day,of which was Pharaoh's birth-day, that he made a feaft unto all his fervants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and 15 And Pharaoh faid unto Jofeph, I of the chief baker among his fervants. have dreamed a dream, and there is none 21 And he reffored the chief butler un-that can interpret it: and I have heard to his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand:

22 But he hanged the chief baker: as Jofeph had interpreted to them.

CHAP. XLI.

1 Pharaoh's two dreams. 25 Jofeph interpreteth them. 33 He giveth Pharaoh counfel. 38 Jofeph is advanced. 50tle begetteth Manaffeh and Ephraim. AND it came to pafs at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and behold, he flood by the river.

2 And, behold, there came up out of the river feven well-favoured kine and fat flefhed; and they fed in a meadow.

3 And, behold, feven other kine came up after them out of the river, ilkfavoured and lean-fleshed; and flood by the other kine upon the brink of the river.

4'And the ill-favoured and lean-fethed kine did eat up the feven well-favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke.

17 And Pharaoh faid unto Jofeph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river.

18 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven kine, fat-fleshed and wellfavoured; and they fed in a meadow:

19 And, behold, feven other kine came up after them poor and very ill-favoured and lean-flefhed, "fuch as I never faw in all the land of Egypt for badnefs:

20 And the lean and the ill-favoured kine did eat up the first seven fat kine :

21 And when they had eaten them up,s it could not be known that they had eaten them: but they were fill ill-favoured. as at the beginning. Solawoke.

22 And I faw in my dream, and behold, feven ears came up in one stalk, futl and good:

23 And, behold, seven ears, withered; thin, and blatted with the eaft wind, fprang up after them:

24 And the thin ears devoured the fev en good ears. And I told this unto the magicians: but there was none that could declare & unto me

25 And Jofeph faid unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath thewed Pharach what he is about to do.

26 The feven good kine are leven years: and the feven good ears are feven years the dream is one.

8 And it came to pafs in the morning that his fpirit was troubled and he fent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wife men thereof; and Pharaoh told them his dreams: but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh 9. Then fpake the chief butler untojen
