Russell's mind. He surely dreams that he can have a Pantheistic legislature, and yet an Established Church! The Dissenters know better, and hence we designate their scheme a more complete and practical one than his Lordship's. They oppose an Established Church, because they allege that it is "sinful," and a violation of the Divine prerogative, for rulers or senates to propagate religious opinions. He, on the other hand, means that the senate shall continue to propagate religious opinions; but he maintains that no religious opinions ought to be demanded as a qualification for occupying a seat in that assembly. The inconsistency, surely, is on the very face of the noble lord's scheme. He consents to the construction of a senate without religion; but he will not consent that that senate should provide an education for the poor without religion. He demands fruit where he protests against providing seed! Meanwhile, a new House of Commons has been called together; and it proves to be one of unparallelled character. It is so constituted as to be neither Conservative nor Radical,-neither Whig nor Tory. As some of our readers may like to have, in a permanent form, a record of this strange election, we will here give a list of the new House of Commons, divided under its four heads, of 1. Whigs, or Ministerialists. 2. Radicals, Repealers, &c. 3. Protestant Conservatives. 4. Liberal Conservatives, or voters for Maynooth. BRECON (BOROUGH) L. V.
