465 v. 43, 44. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour and hate thine enemy; but I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you. 1 John iv. 9. In this was manifested the love of God towards us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him. 1 Cor. v. 13. But them that are without, God judgeth. Therefore put away from yourselves that wicked person. Rom. iii. 24, 25. Being justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ: whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.

Matt. vi. 13. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power,and the glory, for ever. Amen. Luke xi. 4. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. James i. 12, 13, 14. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God. For God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man, But every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed. John xvii. 15. I pray not that thou shouldst take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. Ps. lxxxi. 11. But my people would not hearken to my voice: and Israel would none of me. 1 Gal. v. 17. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other, so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. Luke xxi. 34. And take heed to yourselves lést at any time

your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 1 Chron. xxi. 1. And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan, to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour: whom resist, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered awhile,

make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. 2 Cor. xiii. 7. Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates. 2 Thess. iii. 3. But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. Gal. i. 4. Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father. Col. iii. 5. Mortify therefore your members which are upon earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Psal. xix. 13. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins: let them not have dominion over me, then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Rom. xvi. 20. And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, Amen.

My good child, know this, that thou art not able to do these things of thyself, nor to walk in the Commandments of God, and to serve him, without his special grace; which thou must learn at all times to call for by diligent Prayer: Let me hear, therefore, if thou canst say the Lord's Prayer.

Answer. Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven: Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us; And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. Amen.

Quest. What desirest thou of God in this Prayer?

Answ. I desire my Lord God our heavenly Father, who is the giver of all goodness, to send his grace unto me, and to all people; that we may worship him, serve him, and obey him, as we ought to do.
