that is contrary to sound doctrine; According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. Deut. xi. 26, 27, 28. Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse: A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day; And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known. Heb. v. 9. And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. 2 Thess. i. 7-9. And to you who are troubled, rest with us; when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire, taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.


Rom. vi. 14. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Rom. viii. 1. There is, therefore, now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Matt. xi. 30. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Gal iii. 10-13. For as many as are of the works of the law, are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. Heb. x. 1. For the law, having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. Gal. iii. 24. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might

be justified by faith. Gal. v. 1. Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. 1 Cor. vii. 19-22. Circumcision' is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God. Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was cal led. Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be free, use it rather. For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant. Matt, v. 17. Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets : I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. Rom. x. 4, 5. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.


Rom. ix. 4. Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises. Deut. xi. 1. Therefore thou shalt love the Lord thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway. Deut. x. 4. And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the Lord spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire, in the day of the assembly: and the Lord gave them unto me. Deut. xii. 1. These are the statutes and judgments which ye shall observe to do in the land which the Lord God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth. James ii. 8. If ye fulfil the royal law, according to the Scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well. 1 John v. 3. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. Deut. v. 32. Ye shall observe to do therefore as the Lord your God hath commanded you; you shall not turn aside


to the right hand or to the left. Deut. xii. 32. What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it. Exod. xx. 1,2. And God spake all these words, saying, I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Exod. xxiv. 12. And the Lord said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them. Exod. xxxi. 18. And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon Mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God. Exod. xxxii. 19. And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount. Exod. xxxiv. 1, 2. 28. And the Lord said unto Moscs, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first; and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest. And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto Mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount. And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. Matt. xxii. 35-40. (See §1.) Rom. xii. 2. And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. Titus ii. 11-14. For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men. Teaching us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world'; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Deut. vii. 6. 11. For thou art an holy

people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them. Deut. vi. 13-15. Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name. Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you ; (For the Lord thy God is a jealous God among you,) lest the anger of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth. Heb. ix. 1. 6, 7-12. Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. Now these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: The Holy Ghost this signifying, That the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect as pertaining to the conscience; Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood, he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 1 Sam. viii. 6, 7. But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the Lord. And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. 1 Sam. xii. 12. And when he saw that


Nalash, the king of the children of Ammon you, ye said unto me, Nay; but a king sl us, when the Lord your God was your king.


Exod. xxxiv. 28. (See above.) Deut. declared unto you his covenant, which 1 you to perform, even ten commandments; them upon two tables of stone. Matt. said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord th thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with Mark xii. 28-31. And one of the scribes e ing heard them reasoning together, and p be had answered them well, asked him, W commandment of all? And Jesus answe first of all the commandments is, Hear, Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shal thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy all thy mind, and with all thy strength. 7 commandment. And the second is like, nar shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There Commandment greater than these. Heb. x out faith it is impossible to please him: fo to God must believe that he is, and that he i them that dilgently seek him. 2 John vi. that we walk after his commandments. Th mandment, That (as ye have heard from ye should walk in it. Psal. lxxxix. 30 children forsake my law, and walk not in if they break my statutes, and keep no ments; Then will I visit their transgressio and their iniquity with stripes.
