Entered, according to Act of Congress, in the year 1842,
BY WILLIAM ALLING,
in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the United States for the Southern District of New-York.
The Author, at a leisure hour, once chanced to read "Three Days in a Lifetime." That title might be appropriate to this record of recollections. The remembrance of one day's journey in his youth; the events during one happy evening in his life; and one of the many lone rambles he has taken-may their descriptions here be like music heard on an unknown shore, leading the wanderer to linger on his way, and ultimately to turn his footsteps to the abodes of Peace.
Rochester, N. Y., 1842.
