PREFACE. THE SUPPLEMENTARY HYMNAL is designed to supply those who are using "Hymns Ancient and Modern" with some of the best of the recent additions to our Hymnology, and also with a few of the more popular and better known of the older Hymns which do not find a place in the great Hymnal of the day.
