PREFACE.

THIS Volume contains the Odes of Keats and the best of his lyrics and sonnets. It is intended as a companion volume to my edition of the 'Poems published in 1820', with which it is uniform, and together with that volume may be said to contain all that poetry on which the fame of Keats securely rests.

The text of the edition follows that of the Oxford Poets by H. Buxton Forman, C.B.; the books to which I am most indebted for the material used in the Introduction and Notes are Sir Sidney Colvin's Life of Keats (English Men of Letters Series) and Letters of Keats (Eversley Edition), and The Poems of John Keats, edited with an Introduction and Notes by E. de Sélincourt (Methuen & Co.).
