MY REVEREND BRETHREN,

BEFORE I enter upon those points peculiarly appertaining to my office, on this my second occasion of publicly counselling and exhorting you, I would offer, together with you, my humble thanks to Almighty God for His providential care of us over the unusually protracted period since we last assembled together. Of those, who were associated with us in our first solemn meeting, two have been summoned to give an account of their stewardship, having departed this life, we humbly trust, in His faith and fear, to be partakers with Apostles, Martyrs, Confessors, and Saints, in the kingdom of our heavenly Father. No extraordinary visitation has occurred to cause this diminution of our number; whilst to those to whom it has been permitted to occupy
