:

3 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, and kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the of the price of the land? Whiles it Holy Ghost, and to keep back part

And Ananias hearing the ghost: and great fear came on And the young men arose, wound all them that heard these things. him up, and carried him out, and

an-space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. And great fear came upon all the Church, and upon as many as heard these things.

Ephesians.

ing, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: neither give place to the devil..... Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice and be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one other, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

1 ESUS said to His disciples, I ther is the husbandman. Every branch in Me that beareth not fruit He taketh away and every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in Me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: he that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father

SATURDAY.

The Divinity of Christ. the beginning was the Word,

and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man

John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through Him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.

Then he says,

. Let us give praise to the Lord, for He is good. Ry. And His mercy endureth for ever.

1 St. John xv. 1.

2 St. John i. 1.

. O Lord, wash us thoroughly from our wickedness. Ry. And cleanse us from our sin.

. O Lord, hear our prayer.

Ry. And let our cry come unto Thee.

Then all kneeling, say the Confession and Litany following: ALMIGHTY Lord of heaven and earth, we confess that we have sinned exceedingly in thought, word, and deed, through our fault, through our great and grievous fault; and we present ourselves before Thy eyes, humbly beseeching Thee not to consider the multitude of our offences, but to remember Thy infinite mercy. Give us, O Lord a true contrition for all the sins we have committed against Thee, that being turned from all our evil ways, we may, by a sincere repentance, obtain Thy peace; for the sake of the merits of Thy blessed Son's most sacred passion, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O God the Father of heaven, God the Son Redeemer of the world, God the Holy Ghost,

Have mercy on us.

O Holy Trinity, Three Persons and one God,

Have mercy on us.

From all evil, from all sin, from Thy wrath, from a sudden and unprovided death, from all Thy heavy judgments in this present world, and from everlasting death in the world to come,

O Lord, deliver us.

From the deceits of the devil, from the spirit of sloth and of self-love, from revenge, hatred, and impatience, from envy, calumny, and all uncharitableness,

O Lord, deliver us.

From the spirit of pride, vanity, and ambition, from all intemperance, prodigality, and covetousness, from fornication and all impurity,

O Lord, deliver us.

From the spirit of dissembling, flattering, and lying, from incredulity, profaneness, and all hardness of heart,

O Lord, deliver us.

From the spirit of immoderate anxiety and worldly care, from lukewarmness and indevotion, from levity and inconstancy,

O Lord, deliver us.

We sinners do beseech Thee to hear us, and that Thou wouldst vouchsafe to govern and preserve Thy holy Church,

with our own bishop, and all ecclesiastical orders in holy religion;

That Thou wouldst vouchsafe to give peace and concord to Christian kings and princes; especially to our queen and royal family; and to grant peace and unity to all Christian people;

We beseech Thee to hear us, O Lord.

That Thou wouldst vouchsafe to confirm and preserve us in Thy holy service, and to raise our minds to heavenly desires;

And that Thou mayest give us the spirit of universal charity, by which we may love Thee above all things, and our neighbour as ourselves;

We beseech Thee to hear us, O Lord.

O Lord, graciously hear these our prayers.

O Christ, graciously hear us, and have mercy upon us.

Then all say,

OUR

UR Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Amen.
