The Minister or Superintendent shall say one of the Sentences following, all standing.

The Sentence.

OUR help is in the Name of the Lord: Who made heaven and

earth.

THE Lord is high above all people: and His Glory above the

GIVE thanks unto the Lord, for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever.

HIS is the day which the Lord hath made: we will rejoice and

giving and enter into His courts with praise.

The Hymn.

Then shall one of the Psalms following be said by the Minister or Superintendent and by the School alternately.

The Psalm shall always end, except in the Passion Season, with the Gloria Patri.

I. Beatus Vir. Psalm i.

LESSED is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the

2. But his delight is in the law of the Lord: and in His law doth he meditate day and night.

3. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water: that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

4. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

5. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment: nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost: As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

II. Domine, Dominus Hoster. Psalm viii.

LORD our Lord, how excellent is Thy Name in all the earth: Who hast set Thy Glory above the heavens.

2. Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast Thou ordained strength because of Thine enemies: that Thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

3. When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers: the moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained;

4. What is man, that Thou art mindful of him?: and the son of man, that Thou visitest him?

5. For Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels: and hast crowned him with glory and honor.

6. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands: Thou hast put all things under his feet.

7. O Lord our Lord: how excellent is Thy Name in all the earth! Glory be to the Father, etc.

III. Coeli Enarrant. Psalm xix.

HE heavens declare the Glory of God: and the firmament showeth His handy-work.

2. Day unto day uttereth speech: and night unto night showeth knowledge.

3. There is no speech nor language: where their voice is not heard.

4. Their line is gone out through all the earth: and their words to the end of the world.

5. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

6. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.

7. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

8. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honey-comb.

9. Moreover, by them is Thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

Glory be to the Father, etc.

IV. Dominus Regit Me. Psalm xxiii.

THE Lord is my Shepherd: I shall not want.

2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.

3. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His Name's sake.

4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.

5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. Glory be to the Father, etc.

V. Ad Te, Domine. Psalm xxv.

NTO Thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul: O my God, I trust in Thee.

2. Show me Thy ways, O Lord: teach me Thy paths.

3. Lead me in Thy truth, and teach me: for Thou art the God of my salvation; on Thee do I wait all the day.

4. Remember, O Lord, Thy tender mercies: and Thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

5. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to Thy mercy remember Thou me for Thy goodness' sake, O Lord.

6. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth: unto such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.

VI. Benedicam Domino. Psalm xxxiv.

WILL bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
