A comprehensive series of works bearing directly on Shakespeare and his age.

1.

The series will include

THE OLD-SPELLING SHAKESPEARE

in 40 volumes, to be issued at intervals, commencing September 1907, to be completed by September 1909.

Edited according to the orthography and arrangement of the more authentic quarto and folio versions, with brief introductions by F. J. FURNIVALL, M. A., D. Litt. (founder of the New Shakspere Society).

The volumes will be printed on fine paper, the page measuring 21.5 X 15.3 Cm., cloth 2 s. 6 d. net per volume; also, a Library edition of 500 sets on linen paper, half-parchment, cloth sides, gilt top, per volume, 5 s. net. Sold in sets only.

THE SHAKESPEARE CLASSICS

This series, which is under the general editorship of Professor I. Gollancz, D. Litt., will comprise a comprehensive series of the Romances, Histories, Plays and Poems used by Shakespeare as the originals or direct sources of his plays. The series will consist of not less than 12 nor more than 20 volumes, each volume being edited and annotated by competent scholars. The frontispieces will usually reproduce the original title-pages in photogravure. Size 16.5 13.3 Cm. Quarter. bound antique grey boards, 2 s. 6 d. net. Also 500 special sets on large paper. Half-bound parchment, gilt tops, 5 s. net per volume. The large paper edition will be sold in sets only.

The first volumes will be:

Lodge's "Rosalynde": the original of "As you Like it".

Greene's "Pandosto" or "Dorastus and Fawnia": the original of "A
Winter's Tale".

Brooke's poem of "Romeus and Juliet": the original of "Romeo and Juliet". "The Troublesome Reign of King John": the play re-written by Shakespeare as "King John".

SHAKESPEARE'S ENGLAND

This section of "The Shakespeare Library" will contain a series of volumes illustrative of the life, thought and literature of England in the time of Shakespeare. A full prospectus will be issued early in the Spring. Among the earlier volumes, now ready, are

"Robert Laneham's Letter." Describing part of the Entertainment given to Queen Elizabeth at Kenilworth Castle in 1575.

The book affords on excellent view of the popular literature of the day, and all the works mentioned are described in an Introduction by Dr. FURNIVALL. Cloth. demy 8vo, gilt top, 5/- net.

"The Rogues and Vagabonds of Shakespeare's Youth." Containing reprints of Awdeley's "Fraternitye of Vacabondes", Harman's "Caveat for Common Cursetors", Parson Haben's or Hyberdyne's "Sermon in Praise of Thieves and Thievery", etc., and many reproductions from the original woodcuts. Edited, with an Introduction, by EDWARD VILES and Dr. FURNIVALL. Cloth, demy 8 vo, gilt top, 5/- net.

"Shakespeare's Holinshed." Containing a reprint of all the passages in Holinshed's "Chronicle," of which use was made in Shakespeare's Historical Plays, with Notes and full Index. Edited by W. G. BOSWELL STONE. Buckram, royal 8vo, gilt top, 10/6 net.
