13 God often compares his divine watchfulness over us to the anxious care of a mother over her child. How then can I fear, so watched ? What can I need, so cherished ?
13 As one upon her knees. whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem. 1 God created the universe, the whole visible world.
2 As the Holy Spirit, the third Person in the blessed Trinity, was engaged in creating the natural world, how easy is faith in Him as engaged in the new creation; the spiritual world-" the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of life!"

The firmament is the air, which bears up the clouds as a column bears up a building, and divides the clouds, which are the waters above, from seas and lakes and rivers, which are the waters under the firmament.

26 The glorious Trinity were engaged in our first creation, as they are in our new creation. Man was created after the divine likeness, that is, in holiness.

The account which Moses gives of the creation is short, but sufficient. As it was to be of universal instruction, it neither affirms nor denies any philosophic truth; neither confounds the minds of the unlearned, nor competes with the various views of the learned; yet is it consonant with the majesty of Jehovah.
+ Moses does not add the mention of the stars thus incidentally, as if he supposed them inferior to our planetary system, but as belonging to other systems; and his narrative was to affect specially our own: therefore this merely incidental mention of them.

17 What if this seem a harsh judg ment! The sin was disobedience.
The more gentle the commandment, the greater the sin in disobeying it.
24 After this divine command, it is clear that marriage can never be held as a merely civil contract, by those who believe the Divine word.
They will ever esteem it a religious contract, instituted of God.
