Anthony Cardinale, Director Dependents Schools 2461 Eisenhower Avenue, Room 172 INTRODUCTION In the spring of 1980, nearly one million high school seniors participated in the Admissions Testing Program sponsored by the College Entrance Examination Board. About 2200 of these students were from the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DODDS). The Admissions Testing Program is composed of: 1. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), which attempts to determine student verbal and mathematical ability and is often used for student admission to colleges and universities. 2. Test of Standard Written English (TSWE), which determines student ability to recognize appropriate standard English in written material. 3. Student Descriptive Questionnaire (SDQ), a form that gathers academic and background information from the student. 4. Achievement tests: 15 subject-area tests taken at the option of the student. This pamphlet describes the performance of DODDS students in the 1980 program. 89-896 0 - 827 Table I SAT AVERAGES FOR DODDS AND THE In 1980, averages for DODDS seniors in both the verbal and mathematics sections of the Scholastic Aptitude Test are the lowest reported since 1976.
