ut because none could have this Affistance but whom God should choose, therefore it fell to the Share of fome Particulars to be chofen.

WHY the Apostles were thofe particular People, was because, at the Time of the Choice, they had Special Qualifications above all others. They had infallible Proof, which, tho' it might extend to fome befide the Apostles, yet, in Matters of Fact, is confined to a determinate Number. Of this Number, the Apofles were the fittest Inftruments; being best affected to their Master, of more Integrity than the reft, and otherwise beft qualified to receive that miraculous divine Affiftance, which was neceffary to complete the extraordinary Character, of being Witneffes to all Nations of one, who in Judæa ROSE FROM The Dead.

LUKE vii. 20, 21, 22, 23. When the men were come unto him, thep laid, John the Baptift hath sent us unto thee, laping, Art thou he that should come, oz look we foz another ? And in that fame hour he cured manp of their Infirmities and Plagues, and of evil Spirits; and unto many that were blind gave he Sight.
