Talk with us Lord, Thyself reveal,
That day of wrath, that dreadful day,
The dove let loose in Eastern skies,
The happy morn is come,

The head that once was crowned with thorns,

The Saints on earth, and those above,

The Saints amid this stormy world,

The Son of God is gone to war,

The spacious firmament on high,

The race that long in darkness pined,

The world is grown old, and its pleasures are past,

Thee will I love, my strength and tower,
There is a land of pure delight,

Thine heritage and hope are ours,

Thou art gone to the grave, but we will not deplore Thee, 192

Thou God, all honor, glory, power,

Thou God art a consuming fire,

Thou God of power, and God of love,
Thou hidden love of God, whose height,
Thou, who didst call me from the womb,
Thou, whose Almighty Word,
Thro' the day Thy love hath spared us,
Thus far on life's perplexing path,
'Tis enough, the hour is come,

To God be glory, peace on earth,
To the hills, I lift mine eyes,
To Thy temple we repair,

Wake and lift up thyself, my heart,
Walking on the winged wind,

Walk in the light, so shalt thou know,

Watch of Israel, we shall rest,
We bid Thee welcome in the name,
We know Immanuel's name,

We sing His love who once was slain,
We sing to Thee, Thou Son of God,
We sprinkle water on thy brow,
We wait Thy promise, loving Lord,
What secret hand at morning light,
When all Thy mercies, oh my God!
Whence those sounds symphonious,

While to several paths dividing,

Psalms.

PSALM 3.

THE Tempter to my soul hath said,

66

There is no help in God for Thee," Lord, lift Thou up Thy servant's head, My glory, shield, and solace be.

Thus to the Lord, I raised my cry;
He heard me from His holy hill;
At His command the waves rolled by;
He beckoned, and the winds were still.

I laid me down, and slept; I woke, Thou, Lord, my spirit didst sustain ; Bright from the east the morning broke, Thy comforts rose on me again.

I will not fear, though armed throngs Compass my steps in all their wrath, Salvation to the Lord belongs,

His presence guards His people's path.

PSALM 3.

Second Version.

OH Thou, that art my King of old,
My house of refuge, and strong-hold,
To Thee I lift my cry;

For perils compass me about,
And fears within, and foes without,
Around me multiply.

Thy loving mercy, and Thy truth
Have been my stay from early youth,
And still my stay shall be.

I laid me down, and sweetly slept,
I waked, and was in safety kept,

Because upheld by Thee.

Though leaguering hosts in dark array,
Should track my footsteps, day by day,
How should I faint, or fear?

Thine heritage is in Thy hand,
All blessings are at Thy command,

And Thou art watching near.

PSALM 3.

Third Version:

LET not my foes confound me,
For bolder, Lord, they grow—

Like many waters, round me
The tides of evil flow.
