Ordered, That the said bill and amendment agreed to, be engrossed and read the third time, to-morrow. The bill sent from the Senate, entitled "An act making an appropriation to finish and furnish the Senate chamber, and for other purposes," was read the first time.

On motion,

The said bill was read the second time, and com. mitted to a committee of the whole House, on Saturday next.

The House, according to the order of the day, resolved itself into a committee of the whole House, on the bill sent from the Senate, entitled "An act to fix the time for the next meeting of Congress;" and after some time spent therein, Mr. Speaker resumed the chair, and Mr. Macon reported, that the Committee had, according to order, had the said bill under consideration and made no amendment thereto.

A motion was made by Mr. Macan, and seconded, to amend the same by striking out the words "fourth Monday of November," and inserting in lieu thereof "second Monday in February."

A division of the question on the said amendment was called for by Mr. Milnor;

And the question being taken to strike out the said words,

It was determined in the negative.

A motion was made by Mr. Fisk, and seconded, to amend the 'said bill by striking out the said "fourth Monday of November," and to insert "first Monday of January."

A division of the question on the said amendment was called for;

And the same being taken to strike out the words aforesaid,

It was determined in the negative.

A motion was then made by Mr. Gholson, to strike out the said words "fourth Monday of November," And the question being taken thereupon, It was determined in the negative.

A motion was then made by Mr. Stanford, and seconded, to strike out the aforesaid "fourth Monday of November."

Mr. Speaker declared the motion out of order. From which decision of the chair, an appeal was made to the House by Mr. Bibb, and the same being seconded,

The question was taken, "Is the said decision of the chair correct?"

And resolved in the affirmative.

Ordered, That the said bill be read the third time immediately,

The said bill was accordingly read the third time; And on the question that the same do pass,

It was resolved in the affirmative.

Ordered, That the Clerk of this House do acquaint the Senate therewith.

The House, according to the order of the day, resolved itself into a committee of the whole House, on the bill making appropriations for defraying the expense of stationary, printing and all other contingent expenses of the Senate and House of Representatives, during the present session of Congress; and after some time spent therein, Mr. Speaker resumed the chair, and Mr. Cutts reported, that the committee had, according to order, had the said bill under con sideration, and made amendments thereto.

The House proceeded to consider the said bill and amendments at the Clerk's table, and the first of the same being again read, was, upon the question put thereupon, concurred in by the House.

A motion was made by Mr. Randolph, and seconded, to amend the second amendment by striking out the words "four thousand," for the purpose of inserting "five thousand."

And the question being taken thereupon,

It was determined in the negative.

A motion was made by Mr. Rhea (of Tennessee) and seconded, that the House do now adjourn; And the question being taken thereupon,

It was determined in the negative, {
