a. He that is flow to Anger, is better than the Mighty; and, he that ruleth his Spirit, than he that taketh a City: But, he that hath no Rule over his own Spirit, is like a City that is broken down, and without Walls.

b. He that hath a froward Heart, findeth no good; and, he that hath a perverse Tongue, falleth into Mischief.

c. They that are of a froward Heart are Abomination to the Lord.

TEMPERANCE.

f. We know, that every Creature of God is good, and nothing to be refufed, if it be received with thanksgiving: But, we must add to our Knowledge Temperance; and live foberly in this present World; and use this World, as not abufing it.

c. They that are drunken, are drunken in the Night; but, let us, who are of the Day, be fober. a. He

a. He that loveth Pleasure shall be a poor Man: He that loveth Wine, and Oil, fhall not be rich.

b. Look not thou upon the Wine, when it is red, when it giveth his Colour in the Cup, when it moveth it felf aright: at the laft, it biteth like a Serpent, and ftingeth like an Adder.

c. Wine is a Mocker; Strong Drink is raging; and, whofoever is deceived thereby is not wife.

d. Wo unto them that are mighty to drink Wine, and Men of Strength to mingle Strong Drink; that rife up early in the Morning, that they may follow Strong Drink, that continue until Night, till Wine inflame them; that fay, We will fill our felves with Strong Drink; and to morrow shall be as this Day, and much more abundant.

e. Who hath Woe? Who hath Sorrow? Who hath Contentions? Who hath Babling? Who hath Wounds without caufe? Who hath Redness of Eyes? They that tarry long at the Wine, they that go to feek mixt Wine.

a. Be not amongst Wine-bibbers, amongst riotous Eaters of Flesh; and, run not with them to the fame Excess of Riot: For, the Drunkard, and the Glutton, fhall come to Poverty; and, Drowfinefs fhall cloath a Man with Rags.

b. He that is a Companion of Riotous Men, fhameth his Father.

CHASTITY and MODESTY.

c. This is the Will of God, even your San&ification, that ye fhould abftain from Fornication, Uncleannefs, inordinate Affection, evil Concupifcence, Chambering, and Wantonnefs that every one of you should know, how to poffefs his Veffel in Sanctification and Honour, not in the Luft of Concupifcence, even as the Gentiles, which know not God: For, God hath not called us unto Uncleanness, but unto Holiness.

d. Flee, alfo, Youthful Lufts.

2. Dearly Beloved, I beseech you, as Strangers, and Pilgrims, abstain from fleshly Lufts, which war against the Soul.

defiled, nothing is pure, but even their Mind and their Confcience is defiled.

a. Walk not as other Gentiles walk; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over unto Lafciviousness, to work all Uncleanness with greediness; and whom, for this cause, God hath given up unto vile Affections, to dishonour their own Bodies, between themfelves; Men, and Women, working that which is unfeemly, and against Nature.

b. None of you fhall approach unto any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their Nakedness: Ye fhall not commit any of thofe abominable Customs, which were committed by the Nations, which the Lord caft out of the Land of Canaan. For, whofoever fhall commit any of these Abominations, even the Souls that commit them, fhall be cut off from among their People.
