rice happy man! thy Maker's care
all keep thee from the fowler's snare ;
an, the fowler who betrays
guarded souls a thousand ways.

st as a hen protects her brood
om birds of prey that seek their blood,
der her feathers: so the Lord
akes his own arm his people's guard.
burning beams of noon conspire
dart a pestilential fire,

od is their life, his wings are spread
shield them with a healthful shade.
vapours with malignant breath
se thick, and scatter midnight death,
rael is safe: the poison'd air
rows pure if Israel's God is there.

nd talk of all thy truths at night.

My inwardfoes shall all be slain,
Nor Satan vex my peace again.

3 For God the Lord, enthroned in state,
Is with unrivall'd glory great;
A King superior far to all
Whom by his title God we call.
4 O let us to his courts repair,
And bow with adoration there;
Down on our knees devoutly all
Before the Lord our Maker fall.
5 For he's our God, our shepherd he,
His flock and pasture sheep are we,
Then like his flock draw humbly near,
To-day his voice attentive hear.

PSALM XCVI.

Ye tribes of every tongue;
His new discovered grace demands
A new and nobler song.

2 Tell all the globe Messiah reigns,
God's own Almighty Son,

His power the sinking world sustains,
And grace surrounds his throne.

3 The joyful day let heaven resound,
Let earth her tribute bring,

Shout all her fields with plenty crown'd,
And ocean's caverns ring.

4 Ye waving woods, with glad surprise
Impress'd, your homage pay,

Ye mountains sink: ye valleys rise,
Prepare the Lord his way.

5 He comes! he comes! mankind to bless, A present God reveal'd,

To rule the earth in righteousness,

The sword of truth to wield.

6 But when his word shall wake the dead, And bid the world draw near;

How will the guilty nations dread
To see their Judge appear!

1 TO our Almighty Maker, God,
New honours be address'd;
His great salvation shines abroad,
And makes the nations blest.

2 He spake the word to Abram first,
His truth fulfils the grace;

The Gentiles make his name their trust,
And learn his righteousness.

3 Let the whole earth his love proclaim
With all her diff'rent tongues,

And spread the honours of his name
In melody and songs.

4 Joy to the world, the Lord is come,
Let earth receive her King;
Let ev'ry heart prepare him room,
And heaven and nature sing.

5 No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;

sus, the Saviour, reigns, t earth adore its Lord;

ht cherubs his attendants stand, ift to fulfil his word.

ow holy is his name, ow terrible his praise!

ice, and truth, and judgment join all his works of grace.

PSALM C.*

OLD VERSION.

L people that on earth do dwell,
g to the Lord with cheerful voice :
m serve with fear, his praise forth tell,
me ye before him, and rejoice.

e Lord, ye know, is God indeed,
thout our aid he did us make :
e are his flock, he doth us feed,
d for his sheep he doth us take.
enter then his gates with praise,
proach with joy his courts unto:
aise, laud, and bless his name always,
r it is seemly so to do.
