The GENERAL ASSOCIATION of New Hampshire met, agreeably to appointment, in the Congregational Meeting House at Great Falls, Somersworth, on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 1850, at 10 o'clock, A. M., and was opened with a Sermon by Rev. NATHAN LORD, D. D., Pres. of Dart. College, from 1 Cor. 2:6, 7.

After Sermon, the preacher took the chair and the following persons presented certificates of their appointment as delegates from the District Associations, viz:

ORGANIZATION.

Prayer was offered by the Moderator, and the Standing Rules of the Association were read by the Secretary. Adjourned to half past one, P. M.

Afternoon.

Met according to adjournment and proceeded to the choice of a committee of overtures and nominations. Rev. J. T. McCollom, Rev. John Richards, D. D. and Rev. Samuel Lee were chosen this committee.

Voted, That the times of meeting be 8 o'clock, A. M., and half past 1 o'clock, P. M.

Rev. R. D. Hitchcock, Rev. D. Goodwin, Rev. L. Thayer, Rev. J. Little and Rev. T. A. Taylor were appointed a committee to prepare a report of the state of religion.

The Delegates appointed to corresponding bodies last year gave their report.

After singing, and prayer by the Rev. Mr. Rogers, the Delegates from the District Associations and from Foreign Bodies gave a report of the state of religion within their respective bounds, in the course of which prayer was offered by Rev. Mr. Willey of Goffstown.

Rev. D. Goodwin and Rev. W. Fifield were appointed a committee to designate the place of the next meeting and also the Association to furnish a Preacher.

Rev. J. French and Rev. S. T. Abbott were chosen a committee to prepare the next Pastoral Letter.

Rev. Messrs. J. French, J. T. McCollom, A. W. Burnham, N. Lord, D. D., John Woods, Z. S. Barstow, D. D., A. Bodwell, E. I. Carpenter, J. K. Young, A. Richards, T. Savage, and R. W. Clark, were appointed to certify the regular standing of ministers and candidates travelling beyond the bounds of the State.

Rev. Dr. Richards, late delegate to the General Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the United States, gave his report. He did not attend the meeting of the Synod, but had correspondence with the body. They accept our christian salutations and desire a continuance of correspondence, requesting a delegation from us at their next meeting in 1853.

The Piscataqua Association presented a memorial which was referred to a committee of five, viz.: Rev. Messrs. R. D. Hitchcock, N. Bouton, J. E. Farwell, T. Savage, and E. D. Eldridge. After prayer by Rev. D. Goodwin, the Association adjourued till tomorrow morning 8 o'clock.

The Minutes of the preceding day were read. The report of the Trustees of the Widows' Charitable Fund was presented. Voted, That the report be adopted and published with the Minutes.

Rev. Dr. Burnham, Treasurer of the Association, next presented his report, which was accepted and adopted.

Rev. A. Burnham, D. D. was chosen Treasurer for the year ensuing and Rev. N. Bouton, Auditor.

Listened to the Pastoral Address by Rev. T. Savage, which was accepted and ordered to be printed.

The hour of half past 1 o'clock this afternoon, was assigned for the discussion of the Piscataqua memorial.

Voted to allow TEN MINUTES to each of the agents of benevolent societies present. Accordingly, after prayer by the Rev. Mr. Tenney, delegate from Maine, Rev. Mr. French addressed the Association in behalf of the Seamen's Friend Society; Rev. Mr. Ellis, in behalf of the Society for promoting Theological und Collegiate Education at the West; Rev. Mr. Bullard, Mass. Sabbath School Society; Rev. Mr. Ferguson, the Am. Tract Society; and Rev. Dr. Dickinson, Am. and Foreign Christian Union. Rev. Mr. Ballentine, Mis
