I. “LYDIA, THE SELLER OF PURPLE.” ACTS XVI. 14. "And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended to the things which were spoken of Paul." HAPPY Soul, of whom the account is now before us! Happy they who after her example do hear and receive the truths that she embraced! Brethren, hasten your steps, quicken your pace; the Church is praying that it may please God "shortly to accomplish the number of his elect." The believing soul is crying, "How long, O Lord, how long?" Christ's words are, "Surely I come quickly." Oh! that you may not only hear of the conversion of others, but yourselves be converted |
