And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him, Deut. xviii. 15 -18. VER. 26. For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? For ye are our glory and joy, 1 Thess. ii. 19, 20. Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins, Jam. v. 19, 20. I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building, 1 Cor. iii. 69. VER. 37. Ἐν γὰρ τούτῳ ὁ λόγος ἐστιν ὁ ἀληθινὸς, ὅτι ἄλλος ἐστιν ὁ σπείρων, καὶ ἄλλος ὁ Jepilov. And herein is that saying true, "One soweth, and another reapeth. aThou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but thou shalt not anoint thee with oil; and sweet wine, but shalt not drink wine, Mic. vi. 15. And his fame went throughout all Syria : and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, devils, and those which were lunaand those which were possessed with tic, and those that had the palsy ; and he healed them. Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did, 23. VER. 46. Ἦλθεν οὖν ὁ Ἰησοῦς πάλιν εἰς τὴν Κανα τῆς Γαλιλαίας, ὅπου ἐποίησε τὸ ὕδωρ οἶνον. Καὶ ἦν τις βασιλικός, οὗ υἱὸς ἠσθένει ἐν Καπερναούμ. So Jesus came again into Cana, of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain a nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum. *Or, courtier, or, ruler. a And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: and both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jesus saith unto them, fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew ;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse : but thou hast kept the good wine until now. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Gali lee, and manifested forth his glory: and his disciples believed on him, John ii. 1-11. VER. 47. A. D. 30. out of Judæa into Galilee, he went unto him, und besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. a Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died, John xi. 21. And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick and ready to die. And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant, Luke vii. 2, 3. And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house: For he had one only daughter, about twelve of age, and she lay a years dying. But as he went the people thronged him, viii, 41, 42. VER 51. Ἤδη δὲ αὐτοῦ καταβαίνοντος, οἱ δοῦλοι αὐτοῦ ἀπήντησαν αὐτῷ, καὶ ἀπήγγειλαν, λέγοντες· Ὅτι ὁ παῖς σου ζῇ. And as he was now going down, his A. D. 31. JOHN IV. 51-54.-v. 1-10. A. D. 31. servants met him, and told him, saying, | ὕδατος, ὑγιὴς ἐγίνετο, ο δήποτε κατείχετο Thy son liveth. νοσήματι. VER. 52. Ἐπύθετο οὖν παρ ̓ αὐτῶν τὴν ὥραν ἐν ᾗ κομψότερον ἔσχε· καὶ εἶπον αὐτῷ· Οτι χθὲς ὥραν ἑβδόμην, ἀφῆκεν αὐτὸν ὁ πυρετός. Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to mend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. VER. 53. Εγνω οὖν ὁ πατὴρ ὅτι ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ὥρᾳ, ἐν ᾗ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ὅτι ὁ υἱός σου ζῇ. Καὶ ἐπίστευσεν αὐτὸς, καὶ ἡ οἰκία αὐτ τοῦ ὅλη. So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house. VER. 54. Τοῦτο πάλιν δεύτερον σημεῖον ἐποίησεν ὁ ̓Ιησοῦς, ἐλθὼν ἐκ τῆς Ἰουδαίας εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν. This is again the second miracle that | Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaa into Galilee. CHAP. V.—VER. 1. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. VER. 5. Ην δέ τις ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖ τριακοντα ὀκτὼ ἔτη ἔχων ἐν τῇ ἀσθενείᾳ. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. VER. 6. Τοῦτον ἰδὼν ὁ Ἰησοῦς κατακείμενον, καὶ γνοὺς ὅτι πολὺν ἤδη χρόνον ἔχει, λέγει αὐτ τῷ· Θέλεις ὑγιὴς γενέσθαι ; When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? VER. 7. ̓Απεκρίθη αὐτῷ ὁ ἀσθενῶν· Κύριε, ἄνθρω πον οὐκ ἔχω, ἵνα ὅταν ταραχθῇ τὸ ὕδωρ, βάλλη με εἰς τὴν κολυμβήθραν· ἐν ᾧ δὲ ἔρω χομαι ἐγὼ, ἄλλος πρὸ ἐμοῦ καταβαίνει. The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am Μετὰ ταῦτα ἦν ἑορτὴ τῶν Ἰουδαίων, καὶ coming, another steppeth down before me. ἀνέβη ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα. VER. 8. Λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Εγειραι, ἄρον τὸν κράββατόν σου, καὶ περιπάτει. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. a See on Matt. viii. ver. 3. clause 2. VER. 9. Καὶ εὐθέως ἐγένετο ὑγιὴς ὁ ἄνθρωπος· καὶ ἦρε τὸν κράββατον αὑτοῦ, καὶ περιεπάτει· ἦν δὲ σάββατον ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ.
