FOR

OR all the saints, who from their labours rest, Who Thee by faith before the world confest, Thy Name, O Jesus, be for ever blest:

Hallelujah!

Thou wast their Rock, their Fortress, and their might,

Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well-fought fight, Thou, in the darkness drear, their Light of light: Hallelujah!

O may Thy soldiers, faithful, true, and bold,
Fight as the saints who nobly fought of old,
And win with them the victor's crown of gold:
Hallelujah!

O blest communion! fellowship divine!
We feebly struggle, they in glory shine;
Yet all are one in Thee, for all are Thine:
Hallelujah!

And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long,
Steals on the ear the distant triumph song,
And hearts are brave again, and arms are strong:
Hallelujah!

The golden evening brightens in the west;
Soon, soon to faithful warriors comes the rest;
Sweet is the calm of Paradise the blest:

Hallelujah!

But lo! there breaks a yet more glorious day;
The saints triumphant rise in bright array;
The King of Glory passes on His way:

Hallelujah!

From earth's wide bounds, from ocean's furthest

coast,

Through gates of pearl, streams in the countless

host,

Singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,

Hallelujah! Amen.

GOD, in whom the happy dead
Yet live united to their Head,
Their Lord and ours the same;
For all Thy saints, to memory dear,
Departed in Thy faith and fear,
We bless Thy holy Name.

By the same grace upheld, may we
So follow those who followed Thee,
As with them to partake

The free reward of heavenly bliss,
Merciful Father, grant us this,
For our Redeemer's sake.

St Michael and All Angels.

A of and

Amen.

Of bright and glorious Angels stand;
Sweet harps within their hands they hold,
And on their heads are crowns of gold.

Some wait around Him, ready still
To sing His praise and do His will;
And some, when He commands them, go
To guard His servants here below.

Lord, give Thy Angels every day
Command to guide us on our way,
And bid them every evening keep
Their watch around us while we sleep.

So shall no wicked thing draw near,
To do us harm, or cause us fear,
And we shall dwell, when life is past,
With Angels round Thy throne at last.

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow, Praise Him, all creatures here below, Praise Him above, ye heavenly host, Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

THE

Amen.

HEY
come, God's messengers of love,
They come from realms of peace above,
From homes of never-fading light,
From blissful mansions ever bright.

They come to watch around us here,
To soothe our sorrow, calm our fear;
They come to speed us on our way;
God willeth them with us to stay.

But chiefly at its journey's end
'Tis theirs the spirit to befriend,
And whisper to the willing heart,
"O Christian soul, in peace depart."

Blest Jesus, Thou whose groans and tears
Have sanctified frail nature's fears,
On earth in bitter sorrow weighed,
Thou didst not scorn Thine angels' aid.

To us the zeal of angels give,

With love to serve Thee while we live ;
To us an angel guard supply,
When on the bed of death we lie.

So, when the toils of earth are past,
We may attain to bliss at last,
And with the choirs of angels sing
Glory to the Eternal King.

Amen.

HOLY COMMUNION.

JESUS, Thou joy of loving hearts! fount of life. Thou light of men!

From the best bliss that earth imparts,
We turn unfilled to Thee again.

Thy truth unchanged hath ever stood;
Thou savest those that on Thee call;
To them that seek Thee, Thou art good,
To them that find Thee, All in all!

276

We taste Thee, O Thou living Bread,
And long to feast upon Thee still!
We drink of Thee, the fountain head,
And thirst for Thee our souls to fill!
Our restless spirits yearn for Thee,
Where'er our changeful lot is cast;
Glad, when Thy gracious smile we see,
Blest, when our faith can hold Thee fast.
O Jesus, ever with us stay,

Make all our moments calm and bright;
Chase the dark night of sin away,
Shed o'er the world Thy holy light!

GOD, unseen yet ever near,
Thy presence may we feel,

And, thus inspired with holy fear,
Before Thine altar kneel.

Amen.

Here may Thy faithful people know
The blessings of Thy love,

The streams that through the desert flow,
The manna from above.

We

e come, obedient to Thy word,
To feast on heavenly food;

Our meat the Body of the Lord,
Our drink, His precious Blood.

Thus may we all Thy words obey,
For we, O God, are Thine;
And go rejoicing on our way,
Renewed with strength divine.
