the son of Pompilius, a prince of the blood of the Sabine kings.
He relates to him the history of his mother, Pompilia, the
death of his parents, the war of the Romans and Sabines, the
alliance of the two people, the education of Numa in the tem-
ple of Ceres, and the order of this goddess to send him to
