away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

1 Sometimes when the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he returneth again, and taketh with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first.

2

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood; but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

3 Be sober, be vigilant; lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, the tempter should tempt you also, and so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

4 For Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light; and therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also, viz. false apostles, and deceitful workers, be transformed as the ministers of righteousness.

5

Behold Satan hath desired to have us, that he may sift us as wheat. Let us therefore watch and pray, that we enter not into temptation; lest Satan should get an advantage of us, and hinder us, in running the race that is set before us.

6

If we do not give place to the devil, but resist him stedfast in the fatih, he will flee from us. But it is difficult for them to recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

If any man, that is called a brother, be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner, or such like wicked person; it is so judged and ordered by the apostles, that in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we are gathered together with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, such a one be delivered unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh; or that he may learn not to blaspheme; that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

CHAPTER VI.

Concerning the Duty of Man to God.

IN GENERAL.

2 ALL the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: all dominion shall serve and obey him.

3 All nations whom thou hast made, shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy

name.

* As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

5

None of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live, therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. And we are not our own; for we are bought

with a price. Let us therefore glorify God in our body, and in our spirit, which are God's.

Let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably; serving him with our spirit in the Gospel of his Son.

2 Let us also present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is our reasonable service.

3

For the love of Christ constraineth us, who died for all; that they which live, should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

* Wherewith shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before the High God? Shall I come before him with burnt-offerings, with calves of a year old? will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my first-born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He hath showed thee, O man, what is good: and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

5

The grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men; teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.

"The Lord hath desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt-offerings. 7 What God hath cleansed, that call not thou

if we eat, are we the better; neither if we eat not, are we the worse. For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Whether therefore ye eat or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

:

1 Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.

2 Stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

3 The wicked have said, who is Lord over us? Through the pride of their countenance they will not seek after God; God is not in all their thoughts. Thy judgments, O Lord, are far above out of their sight; for they say, The Lord seeth us not, the Lord hath forsaken the earth; and none of them saith, Where is God my maker.

But they that have thus forgot or contemned God, and the enemies of Christ, which would not that he should reign over them, shall be turned into hell.

Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

6

Prepare your hearts unto the Lord, and serve him only. Take heed to yourselves that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside and serve other gods, and worship them.

7 Thus saith the Lord, thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt know no God but me.

8

Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods. Neither worship idols of gold, or

silver, or brass, or stone, or wood, which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk.

1 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Neither shall ye set up any image, to bow down unto it; the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female, the likeness of any beast, fowl, fish, or thing that creepeth on the ground. For idols are vanity, the work of errors; molten images are wind and confusion; and they are without excuse, who, when they know God, worship him not as God, but change the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

2 Take ye good heed unto yourselves, lest ye corrupt yourselves, and lest ye lift up your eyes unto heaven, and when ye see the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, ye should be driven to worship them and serve them.

3 If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness, and my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand; this were an iniquity to be punished by the judge; for I should have denied the God that is above.

4

* Have no fellowship with devils; neither worship them, nor be partakers of the table of devils. For what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial?

Let no man beguile you of your reward in a
