AT a very special time, special words, closely adapted to the occasion, are more likely to come home to the heart than words of a more general kind. It is with this view that this little book has been written. For a few days at least, the minister must keep away, and even a female visitor may scarcely be let in at this season a little book, such as may be read with hardly any effort, may be welcome and useful. The first chapter, "Pain and Promise," is meant to be read before the birth of the child; the rest afterwards, from time to time, as strength allows. The book should therefore be given beforehand. |
