And Abraham said, shall he not with him

My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt-offering: so they went both of them together.

And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.-Gen. xxii. 2--9.

They shall leave none of it until the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the passover they shall keep it. -Num. ix. 12. Read Ex. xii.

Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.-1 Cor. v. 7, 8.

For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled. A bone of him shall not be broken.—John xix. 36.

III.

THE MANNA.

Then said the LORD Our fathers did eat unto Moses, Behold, I manna in the desert; as will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and

Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full.-Ps. lxxviii. 24, 25.

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.John vi. 31-35.

I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.John vi. 48-50.

And did all eat the same spiritual meat.-1 Cor. x. 3.

IV.

THE ROCK IN HOREB.

Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight

of the elders of Israel. -Ex xvii. 6.

And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.Num. xx. 11.

He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.-Ps. cv. 41.

And did all drink the same spiritual drink: (for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.)-1 Cor. x. 4.
