VER. 12.

Ετι πολλὰ ἔχω λέγειν ὑμῖν, ἀλλ ̓ οὐ δύνασθε βαστάζειν ἄρτι·

I a have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet whom we have many things to say, now are ye able, 1 Cor. iii. 1, 2. Of dull of hearing. For when for the and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God: and are become such as have need of milk, and not of milk is unskilful in the word of righstrong meat. For every one that useth teousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that reason of use, have their senses exerare of full age, even those who, by cised to discern both good and evil, Heb. v. 11-14.

the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith as it is written, The just shall live by faith, Rom. i. 16, 17. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ, unto all and upon all them that believe for there is no difference, iii. 21, 22. For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more a And I, brethren, could not speak they which receive abundance of unto you, as unto spiritual, but as grace, and of the gift of righteous-Christ. I have fed you with milk, unto carnal, even as unto babes in ness, shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ: Therefore as by the offence of one, judgment came upon all men to condemnation: even so by the righteousness of one, the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover, the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign, through righteousness, unto eternal life, by Jesus Christ our Lord, v. 17-21. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth, x. 3, 4. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption, 1 Cor. i. 30. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him, 2 Cor. v. 21. For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith, Gal. v. 5. And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith, Phil.

See on chap. xiv. ver. 17. clause 1. b But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him; even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have re

we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual, 1 Cor. ii. 1013. See also on chap. κίν. ver. 26. clause 3.

And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch. And there stood up one of them, named Agabus, and sig- | nifed by the Spirit that there should | be great dearth throughout all the world; which came to pass in the days of Claudius Cæsar, xi. 27, 28. And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me, xx. 22, 23. And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy. And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judæa a certain prophet, named Agabus. And when he was come unto us he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles, xxi. 9-11.

Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord, John xx. 19, 20. and Luke xxiv. 41. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy, and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail.
