After full discussion, the report was unanimously adopted-each resolution being voted upon separately-and is as follows:

In reply to the communication from the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States:

Resolved, I. That the General Association of Connecticut accepts, and sincerely adopts as its own, the expressions which the General Assembly offers of fraternal affection, and of desire to promote that great interest of our common Christianity for which the churches in connection with that Assembly have so long coöperated with the Congregational churches of Connecticut, through the agency of the American Home Missionary Society.

II. That, while the General Association regrets the new policy, under the name of church extension, which the General Assembly has found reason to undertake, it frankly and heartily acknowledges the right of the Assembly, and of all the churches, ministers and contributors in that connection, to judge for themselves, and to adopt such methods and such agencies of evangelization as shall to them seem best adapted to the great end of promoting the glory of Christ in the salvation of men. III. That, inasmuch as the Congregational pastors and churches of Connecticut are still entirely satisfied with those methods and principles which have guided their missions to the new settlements for three quarters of a century, and find no occasion for consultation about new plans or measures in that department of their work; and inasmuch as the determination of the General Assembly to enter upon a new system and method of church extension, having been definitively declared, is no longer a subject of negotiation or consultation between that body and the Congregational bodies with which it is in correspondence, the General Association respectfully, and with the fraternal desire of avoiding the possibility of an unprofitable debate declines the proposal for a conference, for which no adequate en 1 or motive is apparent.
