this affair? If he did not, then are all concerned, principal or seconds, felonious blasphemers and perjurers. Do you keep such company? His word, cause and effect, convicts the whole of them as such.

If the christian faith assumes to be better by any pretended superiority, it is more self-impeached for that very reason. If it affects to suffer, by necessary condemnation

of all faiths, it is because it is not only in bad company, but a component of its char

acter.

As Christ proves himself a sectarian, he must be ruled out as one. Religion does not countenance such a character. Christ, or his coadjutors who wrote, may be smart sectarians, but no religionists. If Christ had written, then we might take him for the author. As it is, we cannot believe perjurers. You are

You are the party in self-delusion and collusion, if you decide otherwise. letting other people fool you, to help their interest, to deceive and impose on the world. This is absurd; renounce it, as it militates against religion. A person would have been regarded as impious, to have questioned the veracity of the oracle of Apollo. Now the world laughs at the imposition; hence, all peculiar faiths will be so reputed, and regarded as absurd and false, the christian as degraded as any paganism. The gospel has to be submitted to the immutable laws of nature. It will be proved, by analysis, to be no history, but story.

The intelligent, religious world, has no interest in Christ at all, as it has none in the pagan sectarianism that he announced. He sought to exchange his sectarianism for that of the Jews. He was only a basely circumcised Jew, and no more. The Romans, when pagans, tolerated peculiar faiths; but when pagan-christians, they were intolerant ; hence dissensions, bloodshed.

Socrates died for philosophy; and Christ, if there were a Christ, died as Joe Smith, with self-delusion for sectarianism, peculiar faith.

All sectarians from the old bible have to convert first the original adherents, before they can go to the balance of the world. Instead of the Christians sending missionaries to other nations, they should first convert, as Christ offered, but failed in the Jews, then try their hand on the Gentiles. The world is indebted to peculiar faith for science and all the blessings of life.

To which form of peculiar faith, that claims all for itself all over the world? That depends on the location where the peculiar faith abides.

Mormonism enlightens the American desert, while Mahommedanism claims much for herself over the vast eastern countries, and yet still more east is Bhuddism, that divides her mighty honors with ambitious rivals. But which is east, in the circumference of this science-proved globe, that has no such pre-eminence? But Americans hear it announced from christianity. Bhuddism will claim her as her missionary, only an agent, a supplanter, a parricide. But what claim has any upon science, that emanates from mind, whose rights all peculiar faiths positively usurp? Christianity claim science? Why, she did all she could to crush mind, through faith.

What a solecisin. She upholds bigotry, not science; faith, not religion; sophistry, not philosophy.

At this very day, rationality cannot have an audience with her essence mind, because of faith. Those who destroy the present constitutional rights, for abstract notions, yet to be rightly solved by mind, are the traitors of the human race.

The world needs neither the sectarian dogmas of a Christ, the peculiar metaphysics of a Paul, nor the meagre petty, peculiar sophistry of the ancients.

Now as to Christ, the more they exalt him, the more they diminish their petty peculiar god.

But for mind, christianity would not have been elevated above the standard of other superstitions.

But christians call Christ master. A pretty dictator, where the God of the universe, almighty as he is, presents himself only as president of the universe, so modest in free agency, that he has given mind, that is to make the world one commonwealth, as nearly as practicable. How can christianity, a nonentity, have any precedence of science, commerce, manufactures, agriculture, arts, navigation, &c? The thing is ridiculously preposterous. All these are insane pretences and ravings. Religion commands masonry, odd-fellowship, sectarianism, peculiar faith, and especially christianity, all in abeyance. Peculiar faith is a prostitute, and the worst harlot is christianity. She can no more portray the God of the universe or represent religion, than she can be identified as the foundation of the arts and sciences, on which as on mind's rights she has been most belligerent, and would be intolerant to-day, but for rationality of mind progressing and even that depends on the locality and little brief authority. That very position of damning all unbelievers, is enough to stamp her with infamy. Christianity's

mistress, peculiar faith, deceives the world with self-delusions and sophistry, and she the foulest bird of the flock in those particulars, is characterized accordingly. You protestants complain of lying Romanists, as if Christians were not in that category. Crime involves crime. The bible fraud involves all subsequent fraud, to keep up the deception. Who would stultify or criminate his mind by any peculiar faith?

What sort of morals was the sword of Christ to the people instead of peace, to set the household against itself, and all at variance, and rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. If every man have his due, there would have been no preference. But ali peculiar faith is below the contempt of mankind, christianity, particularly Christ, as Socrates, Joe Smith, died as innovators-Socrates acted like a man, the other two as malefactors.

Liars, especially those that make Christs and Jew bibles, have necessarily immense memories, not to forget some things, else how came they to overlook his genealogy? Lies cannot be dove-tailed with truth. God created truth, and all the necessary protection. No mortals can alter it, hence all this proves the bible falsehoods. I am perfectly astonished, that any truthful, independent, honest-minded modern clergy, can ally themselves to such a perfectly foolish, rotten false system, when it has so glorious and magnificent a universe book, that needs no edition, no copy, no translation. Which is the worse, their own stupidity in not seeing the last, or correcting the first? But are any clergy honest or truthful-minded? All peculiar faiths are false pretences, and they can only be upheld by those that practice false pretences. How can they be truthful or honest-minded? Then as it is utterly hopeless to expect a proper change in all such, the people who have proper self-respect must do their duty; theirs is the recompense or penalty, not the prince of the power of the air, the devil when personified. What infamous blasphemy. There is no end to the fanatic blasphemy, of all polytheists. When they get started, their limit is in the excess of crime. This is miserable blasphemy. The only prince of the power of the air, is God, who employs no such agent, much less such libeling reporters. Let the God of the universe be correctly represented to mind, that is all that the races of mankind need. All that is of God, must be the God of the universe, and nothing less. Let full justice be done the comprehensive subject, and then these immodest lying priestocracy, whose minds, debauched by their peculiar faith propaganding, would act with all as with the Jews, and if they had the power equal to their wishes, would have murdered the whole world for this object, will be silenced.

A world savior, is it? What absurdity, not so much for the ancients who were ignorant, as the moderns who adopt. He should of necessity have been the universe savior, otherwise there is at once a contradiction. If God was defective in the world, of course he was in the universe, for the messiahship implies imperfection in God. The peculiar god of the Jews and christians, was defective all the time, and no messiahship could ever help him out of the difficulty, that is, the priestocracy. I am of those that go for God exclusively, and cannot go for Christ, therefore as he says himself, through the mouth of the priestocracy, that whoever is not for him, is against him, then he cannot be for the God of the universe, whom I adore.

All the spiritual pretensions, knockings, &c., the derangement of the public mind, clairvoyance, are from Mark's chapter. Why do the people choose the preliminaries, to be humbugged?

All that sustain their bibles by faith and not rationality, are irrational, fanatics, bigots, who impede mind's progress, and sacrifice religion, the highest duty of mind, to public idolatry; the universe God to its peculiar fancy pretences for a pagan god, that makes priests dictate to their idols, in order to dictate to the world. A bible faith bigot, or fanatic, cannot reason-he bolts the whole subject.

The God of the universe does not create any devil, as he does not do by another, what would disgrace him by another. Hence all this priestocracy creation, and their utter disgrace, for to their paternity are due the acts and disgrace of their bantlings. My mind scorns their books, or them as priestocracy, whilst I respect all of them that are respectable men, by monotheism.

Was there such a man as Jesus? I have no doubt but this is the prototype, as furnished in Josephus. "But what is still more terrible, there was one Jesus, the son of Ananus, a plebeian and a husbandman, who, four years before the war began, and at a time when the city was in very great peace and prosperity, came to that feast, whereon it is our custom for every one to make tabernacles to God in the temple, began on a sudden to cry aloud, 'A voice from the east, a voice from the west, a voice from the four winds, a voice against Jerusalem and the holy house, a voice against the bridegrooms and the brides, and a voice against the whole people.' This was his cry, as he went about by day and by night, in all the lanes of the city. However, certain of the

6

most eminent among the populace, had great indignation at this dire cry of his, and took up the man, and gave him a great number of severe stripes; yet did not he either say anything for himself, or anything peculiar to those that chastised him, but still went on with the same words which he cried before. Hereupon our rulers, supposing, as the case proved to be, that this was a sort of divine fury in the man, brought him to the Roman procurator, where he was whipped till his bones were laid bare; yet did he not make any supplication for himself, nor shed any tears; but turning his voice to the most lamentable tone possible, at every stroke of the whip, his answer was, 'Wo, wo to Jerusalem.' And when Albinus (for he was then our procurator) asked him, Who he was? and whence he came ? and why he uttered such words?' he made no manner of reply to what he said, but still did not leave off his melancholy ditty, till Albinus took him to be a madman, and dismissed him. Now, during all the time that passed before the war began, this man did not go near any of the citizens, nor was seen by them while he said so, but he every day uttered these lamentable words, as it were his premeditated vow, Wo, wo to Jerusalem.' Nor did he give ill words to any of those that beat him every day, nor good words to those that gave him food; but this was his reply to all men, and, indeed, no other than a melancholy presage of what was to come. This cry of his was the loudest at the festivals; and he continued this ditty for seven years and five months, without growing hoarse, or being tired therewith, until the very time that he saw his presage in earnest fulfilled in our seige, when it ceased; for as he was going round upon the wall, he cried out with his utmost force, Wo, wo to the city again, and to the people, and to the holy house,' and just as he added at the last, 'wo, wo to myself also,' there came a stone out of one of the engines, and smote him, and killed him immediately; and as he was uttering the very same presages, he gave up the ghost." And what is the most remarkable in Josephus is the statement, But now, what did the most elevate them in undertaking this war, was an ambiguous oracle that was found also in their sacred writings, how 'about that time one from their country should become governor of the habitable earth.' The Jews took this prediction to belong to themselves in particular, and many of the wise men were thereby deceived in their determination." And this was the war that destroyed the Jews, to the amount of more than a million of people, and broke their spirit as a nation. So much for prophecy, and a messiah.

Now, how can Christ be of God, when he, that is, his priestocracy, libel God? Unless the New Testament is fully proved by the Old, on which it is assumed to be founded, and both demonstrated by God, not man, to be his word, the whole fabric is a false pretence. No second story is good that is not dependent on the first; and if the New Testament supersede the Ŏld, then God's immutability is superseded, an utter impossibility; therefore the story falls to the ground. Do I admit Josephus? Yes, as far as human testimony has the right and capacity to speak on human affairs, verified and demonstrated by universe facts, no farther.

As to Paul, he is a self-declared subordinate to his master, in sectarianism, and supports Mark's position most strongly. He is an endorser of perjury. He advocates the whole, above all, performs the same, if his account be taken. As to " a more excellent way," when he now saw through a glass, darkly," he had not reached the balance "then." When his prophecies failed, knowledge vanished away, then the world was in Peter's position. Acts ii. 17, "And it shall come to pass, in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my spirit upon all flesh and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, &c. 19, And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath, &c." Peter tells too much. 20, "The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood." Peter knew nothing of the atmosphere producing colors. By-the-by, which has the best of the truth, the Mormons, Christians, or Jews? Are stone tables of more value than golden plates? The reason, if you please.

Paul was a wily sophist. Could any part of the creation be entrusted to a creature, with a creature's functions?

The idea is absurd. Then all peculiar faith is an imposition. Another blessing of St. Mark's signs, was canonizing Edward by the pope. He received the surname of Confessor, and it was pretended that he was favored with the special privilege of curing the scrofula, or king's evil.

His successors were pretended to have had it, I presume, by the grace of God. All about as strong in truth, as Wesley's knockings, recently imitated in the circle of humbugs. At one time, in England, more than one hundred murders were proved to have been perpetrated by ecclesiastics, of whom none had been punished.

What a scene was there in England, in the cruel persecution of the Reformers. What keeps the same parties, Reformers and Romanists, now down, but the superior state of public mind? What a state of clergy was there, in Elizabeth's reign! They

were Protestants or Romanists, as the court was. Is not this the world game? Religion estops this. But the world is told of the communings and feelings of the spirit; all self-delusion. The Juggernauts, Jerkers, all devotees, are enthusiasts, and may be thus psychologized, thereby proving only fanaticism.

All things must have a rational basis, or be nothing but imposition. The enthusiasm of the ancient Pythoness is exactly analogous. Apollo never had but an ideal existence in the minds of the vulgar, or populace, and that is the case about Christ, or any other such pagan polytheism, they are all idols of the world, excluding God Almighty not from his, so far as he is concerned, but so far as the peculiar priestocracy and adherents are identified.

If Christ had had any divine mission, it would have been self-evident as God's facts, whereas the peculiar faith, teaching it by peculiar education, impeaches it, as unworthy the attention of rational mind, especially having its dignity of freedom in constitutional government, and most honorable society, that has no bigotry of proscription.

Now, as Christ, he acted so well his part to aid man, that the world must admire his mission, you say.

Nay, he appears openly confessed and demonstrated an impostor, therefore he cannot command mind's respect, much less love. And now, what is self-evident, he is an impostor of the lowest blasphemy, from the lowest priestocracy, and all those that endorse, with these lights before them, are impostors. Their position they have chosen.

As more than a majority of the world would perjure itself for money, interest of any kind whatever, so all peculiar faith people would necessarily involve themselves in all the worst perjuries for their peculiar faith.

Christ's priestocracy might have been great men; they might have Christ a great man in their drama, but, like Napoleon, both fell short of a Washington. But they started with the Jesus of Josephus, a miserable monomaniac, and have ended with monomania themselves.

But the 17 and 18 of the xvi. of Mark, are metaphors. Then the whole book is metaphor, and worth not the notice of an honorable mind, a moment.

If you say, as the cornered man has said, that it is because the Christians have not full faith, then they are fully decided to be impostors of the worst stamp. As to not having faith to come up to the point of Mark, that kills all dead. But you may pretend that they are mysteries; then that is a false pretence, and in any way the believers are nonplused.

So all the quagmires of sophistry do not avail those cornered in the quagmires of any peculiar bible. All such sneak from the honest question. Why not try all, by the principles of truth, and retire from your inglorious position the moment you are not sustained by truth.

Do not resort to all the expedients of vitiated sophists, to sustain what cannot be sustained.

No truth can be advanced by such, all their lifetime, against rational religion.

When any one pretends to stop in investigation of this whole subject, because there are terms used that bespeak its dishonesty and untruth, then he cowardly identifies himself with both, and proclaims himself unworthy of his rational mind. He cheats, defrauds his own mind, and that of the world. Such a character is ignominiously disgraced forever, as long as he is such a debased bigot.

The gospel as it is called of Christ, is an imposition on imposition. Do you adopt and propagate such? Then you are an impostor.

There are two reasons why Christ was a false messiah: he has not the genealogy. The mother of Christ was Mary, of the house of Levi, while David was of the house of Judah. Nor was he a temporal king as pretended to be predicted. He disgraced himself as a false prophet. Either then prophecy is false, or the messiahship. In either case the subject is unworthy rational mind. All the ancients sought superiority through royalty as the height of their ambition, with few exceptions.

Of all the pagans, ancient or modern, Socrates was as far before Christ, as Washington was before Moses, or any other pagan serf-maker. Language has been awfully corrupted.

Socrates died like a philosopher, but Christ like a blasphemous sectarian. Many have assumed the livery of deism, but false books under pagan livery, dictation or restriction, have nothing to do with monotheism.

But what are the gorgeous churches of the moderns?

They are only pagan temples of idolatry.

But the worship of the Almighty God is therein attended to. By those who introduce anti-God pagan idolatry. Let not the purity of language be corrupted; mind prostituted, nor religion be desecrated. Honorable, rational minds cannot possibly

want such a system that will heathenize the world, rending it asunder, stultifying more the renovators than the renovated. You pretend how thankful ought I to be, that I was born in a christian country? There it is now, the rankest, most blasphemous idolatry. I thank my God, savior, and creator, that I was born in his universe, and I am grateful to the justice, not charity of monotheism, for the glorious birth-right.

Millions of Christians would be Mahometans, had they been born in the country of that faith. It is then no compliment that they are even christians, pagans as all are, for they are only time-servers, custom-followers, reckless of principle and the sycophants of despotism, identified with the powers that be. Monotheism is of no banner local, but the assertor of perennial principles.

Principles command us not to appreciate the world too highly any way, but to do it justice.

How can you undertake to direct God's plan and system; a creature cannot suggest to a creature? Act intellectually, morally, and religiously up to the dictates of your nature, not over it.

If the voice of principle cannot be justly heard in behalf of any pagan idol, Christ, why should you stultify your mind therefor?

It was a rational finished education that the ancient world needed to rescue itself from pagan barbarism. Rational mind that rules the world at last, must rule out all opposing unprincipled evils. The bible is chief.

Imagine what must be the astonishment of messiahs claiming admission into their bible's heaven, and be told there is no such as depicted.

They cannot be known in their affected character, as that is the very thing to exclude them. They could only be advanced by principles that they had desecrated. What advantage to the world's principles, is messiahship? Who knows? What can pagan idolatry avail mind?

We need but a right appreciation and duty to God, to whom is due rational mind's constant thanksgiving, the mighty morale of the world, with one harmonious union. All that can be said of Christ's death, the very best is, that it was that of a sectarian, and that has no merit of itself. The untrammelled can say, that he was sacrificed by the Jews, who sought their own profits in protection of their faith.

Christ is only one of the officials of peculiar faith.

The very definition of sin is the transgression of principles that rule out an impracticable interloper as Christ. Touch not this whole peculiar faith no more than any other, for you become a reckless perjurer if you do. All such are anti-God.

The undeveloped mind of the ancients prevented their appreciation of a Creatorsavior of the universe, and their abortion, a man savior, is ignominiously advanced by stupid moderns, having a far better light to irradiate rational mind. The modern priestocracy are recreant to rational religion.

Christianity has met the first inherent element of worthy confidence to the world. All her claims are false. Habit is under the rule of principles.

There is a reality in religion that is a universe question, and takes precedence, supremacy over all other vital matters as identifying the soul with its Creator. But all peculiar faiths are impositions, as all are counterfeits of religion. That then is the difference.

Christ proves his incapacity for all the department of religion, by espousing that of faith, and giving the world the evil fruit of his sectarianism. His bad company kills him.

I cannot dwarf my soul to such a pusillanimous view. There can be no man-savior, as there is a creator-savior.

The business of every day life proves religion, that cannot be deferred for preaching or business.

There are no contingencies in religion, which is certain, and only requires mind's best actions to carry out the best requisitions. If there be any faith that is saving, it is that of religion, not of pagan sectarianism. You may mix your pagan faiths and polytheism with the functions of God the universe-creator, still it is only mixed pagan idolatry.

Such can furnish no sudden heart-light or regeneration worthy the attention of a rational world, however it may ruin a fanatic one.

This thing of religion, is of rational culture for man's mortal and immortal exercise. It works at once and for ever, to the best rational appreciation of Deity.

Christ is too low a pagan idol, mixed as you have him, to refine the soul, he being incompetent to command principles, since sectarianism most demoralizing ruled and ruined him.

All sectarianisms debauch and brutalize the soul, and are not of God.
