Now, nothing in the universe besides gives these facts, that are fixed and immutable. No peculiar book of man, of Jews or any other, can do it.

It may be pretended that the world, mankind, would only get the idea of God out of their Jew bible, which is the most absurd of all fallacies. Various nations, as a part of the Egyptians, Persians, had just as good an idea. The knowledge of deity among all the ancients, Jews and all, was most clearly imperfect, and reflected their limited knowledge.

The statement of Josephus, of Aristeus, to Ptolemy Philadelphus, that the Egyptians worshipped the same God as the Jews, who "paid a peculiarly excellent worship to him," cuts down all pretences of the priestocracy. The bible proves who was their peculiar God, and all that assert the claims of the Jews to a pure view of the God of the universe, compromise truth, honesty, and intelligence.

The bible of rational mind proclaims that you can be nothing without monotheism. I am gratified that I have adequately and most satisfactorily investigated for myself the subject of religion, and that monotheism presents the only position that will secure rational religion. It is essential for all mankind to know, that religion must hold all peculiar faith in perfect abeyance, which proves at once the whole position of monotheism, or rational religion. Let these be on one side, and the brightest of peculiar faith on the other.

Would you go to Mark's last chapter to wind up all the Christian believers at one moment, or would you soar to God's Word to reach the facts of sublimest action? It is even so; you go to Mark or to God's works. What a difference.

[ocr errors]

By God's Word you rule out Mark and all the tribe of impostors of spiritual knockings. God's facts are omnipotent. If you went to Mark you would be none the wiser, but be the subject of imposition, ignorance, prejudice, bigotry, and superstition, a world's age; whereas, if you went to cause and effect, you would defeat the whole humbug, without getting out of your seat. Now, what else but a participation in such crimes can you plead, who adopt such a felon as Mark? As good citizens you are bound to renounce all such at once, now and for ever.

You bible advocates may feel ashamed after your Wesleys and your Foxes are exposed; but you still persist in the participation of the foundation that is ever creating such vile impositions.

Agitation of the world by such a base, is horrible indeed. You have asked us to read your bible, and I candidly tell you the result.

The powers of ratiocination elicit the world-wide faculties to perceive that the standard of perfect, correct, legitimate, exact, sublime taste is religion, that points to the highest enjoyments of the universe, and the best appreciation of its God. As to peculiar faith, she is a murderess, tainted with high treason to mind and God, debauched in all the prostitution of priestocracy.

The bible of mind proves conclusively that all bibles are mere books, till proved bibles, otherwise they are base, ignominious counterfeits.

The bible of rational mind gives us the highest reverence for Deity, far surpassing all that Polytheists, including Trinitarians, can possibly have with their peculiar mutilated gods.

The world is a mutual insurance company, that bespeaks the holiest purposes to be carried out on religious and social principles. Exalt yourselves, people of the world, to the right appreciation and action.

Monotheism contemplates rational religion, the comprehensive universe problem, that requires the immortality of the soul for its completion, and comes the nearest of all in proving it in the sublime data given. Peculiar faith deals in the metaphysics, mysteries, and detestable sophistry of faith, while religion looks to honest truth and facts.

She bids the world, rational mind, mankind, to seek the right position, and maintain it rationally, and to act with a zeal worthy of the best of causes, that of the First Great One Almighty. It is only religion that can put the whole frame-work of world society right. She must bring in her conservative revolution, enable the master analyst to correctly criticise all departments of life. To rid the world of all the malign antagonism that is alien to its whole interests, let all have all the fullest and speediest benefits of rational religion. All peculiar-faith, Christian, or any, is in the way of the legitimate

currency.

How the world is imposed on all the time by the whole mock-faith. You must not discuss religion, say the priestocracy, and the people blindly obey those whose very name will be a by-word hereafter. The peculiar bible logic is the craziest of all things. It would wind up the creation at any time if it ever had a hold, from the imbecility of its peculiar gods.

Heretofore it was only sectarianism exchanged for another kind, all bad and without redress. Then all sectarianism and peculiar faith went for rational religion; but this will not now do, as none is religion that is peculiar.

Now, because many do not believe peculiar bibles, they are not to be excluded from the higher obligations of principles of religion that the world, mind, mankind, must have. The bible if rational will bid us never take up a position without principle that will uphold us for ever.

Rational religion legislates for the whole world, and yields to mind its rationality, and to rationality all that are in the elements of eternal happiness. Why do men differ so much about religion? Because they have never analyzed this subject aright. They advance doctrines, pretending them principles.

THE BIBLE OF RATIONAL MIND AND RELIGION, AND THE PREMIUM OF $5000 THEREON.

What can be advanced against the bible of rational mind? tion may affect that it is like the works of Deism, not right. seek the reward?

An unprincipled opposiThen if wrong, why not

As all critics cannot be confided in because all do not rationally and religiously investigate, all rational minds should take nothing for granted from the priestocracy.

I would not only be happy, but am anxious to pay over five thousand dollars in negotiable paper, to any peculiar faith advocate, Christian, Jew, Mormon, Mahommedan or any other, to prove the authenticity of any such bible, and if not competent to do so, to upset monotheism, all by rational principles.

That I may do full justice to this whole subject, I make the preceding offer.

I will be thoroughly a monotheist, and that I may be so, I comprehend all peculiar faiths known to the world, or that can be possibly conceived of by mind.

The reason is most obvious, as how can any advocate act with truth and fidelity if he cannot establish the authenticity of his bible?

How can he religiously blame any mind for infidelity, if he cannot prove or demonstrate the faith authentic? In other words, can any triumph over infidelity if they cannot prove or demonstrate the faith authentic? The only triumph over infidelity, is through the authenticity of the peculiar bible. But if unsuccessful, then what becomes of conscience, that peculiar faith-advocates talk so egotistically about?

If all peculiar faith bible-positions be utterly false, must not their advocacy be perjury? The question is with all such advocates to disabuse the enlightened mind, or abide the explosion of the only infidels, for assuredly, if incompetent to demonstrate the truth of the peculiar faith-bible, they stand forth in bold relief as impostors, and are estopped from any abuse against those whom they assail with false pretences as infidels.

What intelligent world-citizen is there, that cannot see that no dependence can be put in peculiar faith-criticism?

There are various reasons that cause me to commit myself to monotheism.

I will pay for the damages to the world and its society, in order to be set right if wrong.

Peculiar faith people will estimate this book with the prejudices, that they have to all other books not espousing their doctrines.

But are they not tired of their own profitless position that disturbs the world, and does not benefit any?

Do you, citizen, wish to adhere to superstition, or change to the cultivation of religion?

Do you seek the only rational means thereto ?

The universe read rightly, gives us the only correct edition of God's works.

Those not appreciating, may require the reason of my publication. My answer is, to have religion put on the proper basis of mind.

The more bigots oppose, the better, as they will use themselves up in the sublime facts of monotheism.

Were I to omit this publication, I might be more popular in Church and secret society, but a great and paramount duty awaits me.

My individuality is not to be looked at, especially when I claim no exemption from human nature's frailties. I pay this premium, if fundamentally wrong.

My good feelings can be perceived in the principles, as I deal with what militates against them.

If the whole set of peculiar doctrines are wrong, then no part of any peculiar faith

can stand. Thus much of the proposed reward might be offered to the successful proof of a Devil, which would be a miserable failure according to the correct law of evidence. This premium is offered to any person of the five grand divisions of the whole world, that will prove without any sophistry, that the author is not right in the main, on the subject of rational religion, or the bible of rational mind. This certainly is the paramount question with the world, that ought to correct the errors or adopt the principles of the author. That question resolves itself into the enlightened inquiry of how far he is right, and what is essential to perfect the glorious system. Mind that is rational, sees no rational authenticity of any peculiar scriptures of the myriads of ancient bibles, and consequently the full failure of all their advocates to disprove the bible of rational mind. There can be no satisfactory proof of the authenticity of any bible of tradition in the world, no matter from which of the five grand divisions. The bible of the religion of principles, God's document, cannot be gain-sayed, much less disproved. The only proof that is required of the authenticity of the scriptures, is satisfactory evidence on the principles of sound truth.

But the author may be mistaken? Then this premium is for the mistake. to be rid of all mistakes.

I wish

But why the reward? As many have prejudged, I am desirous of calling the citizens of the world back to right perception and judgment, and therefore offer this premium for orthodoxy.

What proof do I require? The authenticity must be unquestionable and satisfactory to gentlemen.

If I were offered this premium to prove my position, and could not do it, I would renounce that profession, certainly, as disreputable.

I consider that monotheism or religion of principles, is self-evident.

What good does peculiar faith do, but deceive the world, trading on the capital of the first? All is arrogant imposture.

All the writers on monotheism, must ever have its principles as paramount, while on the same subject seeking originality, they may still have analogous views, in some respects, differently, or even similarly expressed.

The platform that I maintain, upholds conservative principles. I have and can have, no antagonism to any that upholds them.

Have the priestocracy any to God Almighty?

Why do I offer this premium for what is so clearly plain? To meet bigots, most effectually.

If this book have truths unimpeachable, the world can see the premium safe; if otherwise, the prize is truth gloriously won.

The bigot would lay aside his views about peculiar faiths and Messiahships, before the sun-light was off his horizon, were he not a prejudiced bigot. Thus with facts so plain, the bigot will remain bigot, till monotheism diffuses its rays and dispenses its blessings. No one with successful solutions, can draw on me in vain. Good men will excuse me if wrong. I know I shall be excused at the right time by such. All objections to receiving this premium, can be met at once, for the amount can be dispensed, if fairly won, to all the best of purposes, and the triumph can be that of the noblest, most laudable, ambition.

The purport of this publication, is to secure the right faith by discussion freely and fairly executed.

This work was written in pure defence of religion, and to illustrate not christianity, but the brilliant and substantial effects of mind reflecting Deity's power, regaining her long usurped rights.

What true soul can I possibly offend?

If any have adopted bad faith or pernicious errors, no matter the name, of course they ought to be obliged to me to set them right.

Prove me wrong, and I will adjust all claims of right and order.

If I have become antagonistic to you or your rights clearly, convict me on principles. But some people are afraid to read such books. No one that is wise and sincere is afraid to trust the selection of the true from counterfeit coin, to have a true report as the result.

But the perverted are afraid, those that hold the bad coin, tremble for fear and reproach. Forethought in all such discussion, will disclose the true point.

If the position of rational religion be not correct, what is easier than to win the premium?

[ocr errors]

If I have done an injury to the Church or the priestocracy, I will atone for it by that means, and act with the amende honorable. Without investigation, no one could rightly estimate how valid this position is.

I let the subject carry me to its legitimate results, and congratulate myself on the amount of satisfaction. I am pleased to find my writings confirmed on reading the world before publication. Genius has consecrated her contributions, at the shrine of monotheism in more ways than one, for mankind, mind have devoted, however imperfectly their resources, in some way or other, in all ages and in every clime.

But as the premium being forthcoming, the peculiar faith advocate affects that I would not believe his doctrine if an angel from his heaven were to come with the proof. To all this the most valid answer can be at once returned, that my soul, my mind with its functions, has the deepest interest in all such.

I have as deep a sincerity in all this matter as could be elicited in all the treasure of the Universe. Who can have any deeper or more vital interest?

I am fully satisfied in my own confidence that there is but one God, a perfect Being, but to prove that I have no part of prepossession, I offer the premium not to defend myself behind prejudices, but to annihilate them, no matter where they exist.

After a number of years' investigating and thinking on spiritualization of peculiar faith, my mind all at once fastened on rational religion, as the only effectual means without prejudice or peculiar education. From these two words has grown all that is valuable to my mind.

I offer the premium on the basis of principles, sound honest sense and truth

I offer

it for authentic proof, demonstration, satisfactory and soundest principle that the whole world will recognise

[ocr errors]

If a bank note affirmed to be valuable, but unknown to us, were offered, the world of course in its wisdom would ask for satisfactory proof of its genuineness. If books are presented which their advocates pretended guaranteed deeds of gifts of the most important kind, and had besides what were considered genuine interpolations that affected them essentially, and no name signed, being perfectly anonymous, a sane man would not, could not receive them. Interpolations prove foul play, when especially, all are palmed on the world as genuine.

Who endorses their divine origin? Self-evidence cannot, as in God's works. The text is admitted by the warmest advocates, to be corrupted. How far? Of course, enough to invalidate them by their vitiations.

Is this religion that goes for honesty and truth? The world has nothing to do with such peculiar faith or its bibles, but truth is needed as the strictest justice to the world to anticipate all such evils.

I wish the smartest scholars to meet this question fairly and honorably. I would not mislead the world, hence this premium to be applied as the church sees fit when fairly

won.

This offer is for the people, including the parsons. I wish to give the Bible advocates all the advantages they claim and prove, wishing to advance the highest morals of the world, and declaring for pure religion. All that belongs to rights and justice, I wish to accord.

If the world priestocracy cannot attack the main points with truth, they should not protract this world wrong any longer, nor vitiate the principles of refined civilization to effect retaliation. In the name of God let them adopt the principles of rational religion, and unite the world on the glorious basis of universal brotherhood. Liberality and justice will enable me to allow all the legitimate latitude of proof on the principles of reason in the world.

This work is an introduction to the magnificent subject of Monotheism that all minds should rightfully analyze, and not listen to the seductive and criminal sophistry of priestocracy. If there be any real error on any adopted faith, ought not its advocates who profess truth, be most signally obliged to any intelligent minds for exposures of its fraud or its imposition? To satisfy the most skeptical, I desire to be responsible and hold the world responsible for facts. I write not to incense any order, being no opponent but on principle.

RELIGIOUS MORALS.

HAS the world any religious morals? It has peculiar faith morals in abundance, which pervert the world. Mind has to look to the illimitable liberality of rationality in religion to reach them. The desecration of religion is by peculiar faiths.

The idea of approaching God is by our best actions, words and thoughts.

Rational religion can establish the only basis of pacification throughout the world, and the best platform for universal civilization..

Do I have faith or belief in a God? Certainly. Why do I have that confidence?

Because this is a world most conclusively of cause and effect, and the proper analysis refers most positively to the great first cause. No rational mind can escape this just

conclusion.

.

In the next place, I must define to the extent of my powers exactly what are the qualities, attributes and principles of God. These we can appreciate more exactly by philosophical science the more exactly we can define it, that is we can only define them exactly by exact philosophical science-none other, as all the false pretences of tradition bibles conclusively show. God God is the exclusive Creator, uncreated and unbegotten. How can any claim of a begotten created son, be equal? The idea is preposterous to all that will drop the priest and become the man, the thinking rational being.

Religion, rational religion, is certainly not accountable for any slaughter of the human race in any age or country, in France, or elsewhere; if that were the case, God is amenable to man's censure, the most absurd position. All such evils are referable to peculiar faiths, all of which are of man.

Rational religion requires the full culture that implies the constant exalted exercise of conscience, the conservative of rational mind.

The only universally safe position in this Universe is on principles. You are after religion, and must therefore maintain in the best faith, intellectual, social, moral, religious, filial, conjugal and parental relations. You can obtain all by and through God alone and exclusively; by none other most positively. Is it religious morals to continue the propagation of inventions, made in the days of a world's ignorance? Let reason look into facts, and it must see that God has no room for a specific hell or purgatory. What is it to the people if the pockets of the priestocracy require them? Mind has to regard the world, national and individual sins, according to the Universe ethics established by God. All this requires the supreme duty of all mankind.

The peculiar faiths of the world have finessed too much, and, destitute of principles as all are universally, they have lost the confidence of the truly religious.

As religion is the supreme of all supreme constitutional rights, it is indispensable that she be confirmed by all constitutional principles.

Religion goes for the greatest of all good, the whole public of the world and nothing less at all. What can imply more universal benefit accredited in all good faith? Carry religion into the world. It has it now. Let it be improved on, to make it as rational as the highest rationality can carry it.

In matters of religion the rational mind must elicit principles, not mere policy, to command the organic powers of the whole, or Nature. The whole classes of the world society form one harmonious whole. All reforms and revolutions should be invariably and universally conservative, and all then must be on rational principles to be permanent. The rulers of the world should bow to the majesty of religious not peculiar faith requisitions, however much of peculiar power and vanity they sacrifice.

When we speak of reform on conservative revolution, it is the right action of the world to recovery of her right position. None should be without legitimate principles. Truth and honesty uphold all religion that sustains mind, but all peculiar faith starts with the reverse and necessarily ends in perjury. How horrible!

The world must stop the mere temporal policy of peculiar faith, and let rational religion have its noblest sway. The character of religion is desecrated, to dub peculiar faith by that name when all is so clearly disproved. The world cannot discuss too rationally all that is religion.

Carry conservative reform to the right point-far enough. This is a world-wide question.

What, freemen, reject rational religion? What were your free constitutional institutions for, but this in part? If any country do not positively assert her rightful claims to rational religion, assuredly she will be cursed with peculiar faiths. There is no failure. As the Jewish councils made Mosaic bibles or found them at convenience, so did the Romans make testaments, all patch-work. These characters not only endorsed those demoralizing lies, but ask the world to do so.

As great as was the creation of our noblest of all governments, because God-given by our illustrious ancestors, the most illustrious of all in the pages of heraldry, our nation now is equally concerned in the preservation of the most difficult of all—all solvable by religion that recognises the highest of morals, virtue and intellect.

Rational religion carries rational mind, while peculiar faith assumes faith. Religion decides on justice universal, before she affects any position, and rules out all atheists and polytheists as most superficial in most positive demonstration of their reckless ignorance or want of principle. Religion sustains the wisest statesmen, the deepest, soundest original thinkers, the firmest friends of rational mind, all the true and faithful conservators of the world.
