temporary history of all such bibles of tradition, they would be proved and confirmed by science, as the worst of all iniquities. We are conscientiously convinced this bible is an abominable fable, made up of degraded lies. The priestocracy are all self-commissioned, and endorse each other.

The pretence is, that the object was to smite all Egypt with all God's wonders; and if they had been performed as related, not only all Egypt, but the whole world would have been Judaized. The lies are told, but the omission of rational effects convicts them all. The most reckless opposition could not have possibly withstood all such, as coming from God.

The last verse of this chapter violates all the principles of religion, for it libels God, as advising and suggesting repudiation. As like priestocracy, so was their peculiar god, who spoke and knew only as the first. What does chapter the fourth prove? That God proved Moses for jugglery? What mind is so verdant? Would God have disciplined Moses or the priestocracy, when he could better do it through the minds of the world; a performance that was purposed at creation?

That is the way that God has been operating during his administration, but the dynasties of the priestocracy have assumed a different thing, to their disgrace.

God has a direct way of doing things, the priestocracy has an indirect way, about which they have to lie continually to keep it going; and when that is done, all is done. The moderns have to aid the ancients. One of the worst features of this libelous bible is, that God said unto Moses that he would harden Pharaoh's heart, that he should not let the people go! The terms of ignorance in which this libel is conveyed, betray the science of physiology, as of religion, enough to confute the whole forever. The very signs and wonders that caused the Israelites to believe, would have been irresistible to the superstitious Egyptians. The legend commits its own suicide.

There is, no doubt, something latent here, as the ornaments thus obtained, that went to the Egyptian peculiar gods, were or could be devoted to their Jew god.

Ch. v. v. 3: And they said, the God of the Hebrews hath met with us." This had been anticipated by Pharaoh, who knew not such a god. Had the God of the universe been proved, there had been no sectarianism between the Hebrews and Egyptians.

It was a thing impossible to convince one ancient nation that another cotemporary had superior gods, when exclusive proprietorship was claimed, and their national priestocracy were ever on the alert. Had the universal God been proclaimed, then the difficulty had been obviated; assuredly this was the case with the Hebrews and Egyptians.

The Egyptians were bound to believe their peculiar faith superior to that of the Hebrews, as their masters, from whom, at last, the Egyptians had to run away by the best rational view of truth. If half was true of the slavery of the Israelites, then they had a most weful time of it, and of course had not time or means for mental improvement. Are these miserable people they who are to give the enlightened, of two ages before them, the highest code of civilization? The very idea is an insult to the light of mind. Ch. vi. The talking about his names, that are men's, proves that God had nothing to do in all this matter. Had God's omnipotent arm been directly in this matter, he might have at once met the question. Can any one, on the true analysis of this subject to-day, say that the Egyptians were not as dear to God the Creator as the Hebrews, or any other mortals? If the negative be adopted, then let a sufficient reason be given; miserable world-agitation does the bible morale impart. What, will any rational being to-day say, that the land of Canaan, wherein the Israelites were strangers, should be their heritage? The thirtieth verse evinces the language of the priestocracy too plainly to be mistaken,—“I am of uncircumcised lips," emanated from the whole soul, probably the heart, of these spiritual speculative people. Several of the succeeding chapters are of that spirit, and are endorsed in their black letters as prominently as can be. Ch. vii. And the Lord said unto Moses, see, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh; and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet." Can priestocracy do more than that? Thus, these low-bred, incestuous characters lorded it over the Hebrews, and all others that their little brief authority could reach. These were a hopeful pair of brothers! Go, priestocracy, to all the world, for all you have now to do, is to prepare the simple minded to believe a book called the bible, because it is written therein, "thus saith the Lord of the Israelites." Ye are an affiliated band of professors, whose sworn duty is to deceive the whole world, and not enlighten yourselves out of your hybrid bigotry. What matters it whether it be right; it is your profession? What matters it whether this chapter contradicts all human nature? Your faith, with your vernacular heart, your perjured sophistry, can set at defiance all the legitimate criticism of the world. Is not your power the union of church and state, that ruleth mind, purse, and sword, that setteth at defiance the ingenuous wisdom of all ages? You will convince Pharaoh's mind, but his heart belongs to you! And miracles were the game that these men played with!

Ostensibly in the jugglery of serpents. V. 11. The sorcerers and magicians acted with their enchantments. But the Hebrew men outdid them, because they played another game, the jugglery of mind, not on the Egyptians, but on the multitude of the world, silly enough to believe, to play at the game of faith. The Hebrews had the last throw, and that game is played in their bible jugglery. What say the Egyptians? Have we their statement? Was ever this scene perpetrated before the light that shone on the land of Egypt? If so, it was written in the closet of some monk of that order.

13. And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them, as the Lord had said." Said what? Libels from beginning to end, both of nature and nature's God. This book disproves itself, that it was neither mind nor heart. What did these bunglers know, but trade on the low speculation of their degraded profession? That Moses and Aaron were mind-jugglers, the chapter proves, that they prove themselves. It is not in the power of human nature to oppose the manifestations of divine power. For that produces the true humility. This is the true result of religion.

20. And Moses and Aaron did so, as the Lord commanded; and he lifted up the rod and smote the waters, &c.—and all the waters that were in the river were turned into blood.

22. And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments, &c. Where is the proof conclusive now that all this is true? Who believes it? If the magicians of Egypt could do this, what excelled it, proves better magic. But it is the magic of falsehoods, that knaves and fools play with. The magicians could turn water into blood! As Pharaoh did not believe it, it proves that some magic was used of which we have not the true history. We have heard of its raining blood, but then that blood came from a man's hands.

Ch. viii., v. 7. And the Magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt.

[ocr errors]

But the magicians could not bring forth lice with their enchantments. We can all say this is the finger of the priestocracy, their trickery surely. It is not for the Egyptians, but the verdant people of the world. Who was worse, Moses for lying imposition, or infamous priestocracy for their inquisition to enforce these infamous lies?

Sacrifices and burnt offerings were so convenient for the priests. Ch. ix., v. 27 : And Pharaoh said: The Lord is righteous, and I and my people are wicked; yet, 34: Pharaoh hardened his heart. What had the last to do with the convictions of mind? Ch. x. But here is the beauty, kings and people must be humbled before and by the priestocracy. The world must bow down to them! V. 17. Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and entreat the Lord your God, that he may take away from me this death only." Thus was Pharaoh suppliant to Moses and Aaron, if we take their words for it! 21. And the Lord said unto Moses, stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt"! That is pretty strong. The lying increases, several coats thick. Ch. xi., v.1. And the Lord said unto Moses, &c. V. 2. Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbor, and every woman of her neighbor, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold." What a libel on God! What felonious theft of Moses the repudiator! Ch. xii., v. 15. Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread, even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses; for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel. A human sacrifice for a rite of superstition! This a particle of religion! Would that millions had not been sacrificed by the people, who make the greater sacrifice to the impositions of the priestocracy.

V. 26. And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, what mean ye by this service? 27. That ye shall say, it is the sacrifice of the Lord's passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses." Did God of the universe ever do so? Were the Egyptians a part of his creation, or were they the real estranged heathen whom he did not create? Were the Hebrews so heathenish to mind's analysis, that they committed themselves to a peculiar bible, that adopted a peculiar god for them and no others? 29. And it came to pass, that at midnight the Lord smote all the first-born in the land of Egypt, and all the first-born of cattle." Priests, how can ye say so? Can ye come to the truth this time? Where did the first-born of cattle come from, as in the very grievous murrain, ch. ix. v. 6. And the Lord did that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died." Liars ought to have good memories. V. 35. And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses: and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment. 36. And the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required: and they spoiled the Egyptians." This is the source of repudiation.

What a fine thing it was that these Hebrews only knew no more such people! God of the universe never knew such a people, as they claim acquaintance. the congregation of Israel shall keep it (the ordinance of the passover.) 50. Thus did all the children of Israel, as the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they. The children of Israel were merely stupid grown up children, to believe it. Here is the secret of priestocracy power.

This nation of the Jews was doubtlessly matured enough, to obtain through numbers and the employment of stratagem, their national sovereignty. They left Egypt successfully; how, we cannot possibly tell, by their miserably corrupted bible of tradition.

Ch. xiii. 1. “And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying." The decree of this priestocracy was as absolute, by their own showing, as the ukase of the Russian Emperor. 2. Sanctify unto me all the first-born, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast, it is mine." We observe once for all that when the priestocracy spoke with their greatest authority, they said the Lord spake. Then there was of course no reversal of that decree, unless they chose to entreat the Lord to speak differently, and that declared itself according to their notions of things, under peculiar secret influences. What a formidable power, the colossus of the world, by which the world has been overwhelmed and mind mastered. Their rites and ceremonies bound the devotees by the strongest ligaments of superstition.

The old priestocracies sought to gain the first, now the modern ones seek to maintain and manage all better, by the worth and wealth of the whole born, whose deepest feelings are peculiarly enlisted and linked. We may reasonably conclude that the course pursued as in second verse gained over the friendship and combination of the people, whilst the last added to their abundance and enjoyment.

The priestocracy's power is powerfully developed in this chapter. Power of government can always find expedients to assume prerogatives. V. 15. Therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the first-born of my children I redeem. 17. God did not lead the people through the Philistines' land; for God said, lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt." Where, outrageously lying priests, are your miracles to stop them?

This is another proof that this God was not omniscient, as the God of the universe does not use the guess-words peradventure, since he knows. Whether the generals were timid, and put all on this category, this untruthful account does not enable us to discover satisfactorily, but it looks reasonable if they did not march straight forward. But their wilderness story is a miserable legend most doubtlessly. Who can substantiate as to a pillar of a cloud, or a pillar of fire? None. Moses or his book-makers have lied. Ch. xiv. v. 4. That the Egyptians may know that I am the Lord." It seems this peculiar god was very ambitious to be known to other nations, by taking penalties on them in behalf of his people the Jews. 5. And it was told the king of Egypt, that the people fled. 8. And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel," &c. It is no more reasonable that men taught by miracles, as related, could have done this, than the miracles could have been performed, or that the sea opened for one to pass, and the other to be drowned. All this is infamously false. The Egyptians and Pharaoh were not the creatures of God, as these pretences would have us believe. No, not at all. They were a part of the outside barbarians. The heathens that should have been butchered up for the good of the peculiar people. They were only reserved for the priestocracy to try their hands on, to prove their peculiar god. Mind had nothing to do with the priestocracy: they deal in faith and miracles. 17. and I, behold I, (the Lord) will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them, and I will get me honor upon Pharaoh and upon all his host." What honor is comparable to the loftiest government of mind, what is holier than religion that knows the people of the world as one brotherhood? 18. And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord." The world best knows the Lord, through the best culture of mind.

Now for the priestocracy. 21. And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord caused the sea to go back, &c. 27. And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength." Who so powerful as the priestocracy? They were the master-spirits of the world, for lying!

How explain? How believe, sir? Who so verdant, eh? As to the prophecy of the Hebrews, did they not prophecy against their dispossessed enemies? ments must be first proved, else it is irrational to ask belief. honesty to require faith where there is not rational proof. I ask for indubitable proof that exact records were made, and all such kept above suspicion and reproach. There is no such proof at all. Those who could lie about the past, could easily lie

about the future. Chapter the fifteenth displays proof of direct antagonism to chapter thirteenth, respecting not going directly to Canaan, and indirectly against the statements of the fourteenth chapter as regards the miracles through the red sea. Ch. XV., v. 16. Fear and dread shall fall upon them, (expressed in preceding verses, especially 14 and 15,) by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone, till thy people pass over, O Lord." And yet this man, Moses, was called an unsurpassed prophet. Some knowledge of chemistry kept as an occult science, might have been possessed by the priestocracy, but that is only an incident to the main drama that required more potency from them than that to sustain them. Moses changes the character of the waters; that may be. Who, of disinterested witnesses, can tell us? We should never have heard of this, but for more weighty matters. Who certainly proves that all these things were done?

The bible specifies all things as real! The particular conversations of God disprove all the bible, that Moses, or those who sustained the man of straw, could not sustain. It carries the elements of its own destruction. It is hard to know the truth from the fiction of these deceiving priests, and fortunately it is of little interest, as the sure word of God, cause and effect, annihilates all priestocracies. Ch. xvii. Water was obtained out of the rock of Horeb by Moses, accompanied by the elders of the children of Israel. Water can be easily gotten out of a rock, if the party be prepared for it, but whether it was by a rod or by the pen is unknown to us. All the elders of Israel are affiliated, dead and buried, and so will be their bible. 11 v. And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12. And his hands were steady until the going down of the sun." Why was not the miracle of Amalek's discomfiture done at once? The world must submit to this all-powerful dynasty, and let it construe all things their way. Was the hand of the priestocracy or of the general the most effectual? The writer's was potent. Can the people believe all?

But what sort of morals and religion would any such memorial as this be? 14. "And the Lord said unto Moses, write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven." Was their conception of Jehovah much removed from the name of Jupiter ? They had not clear views of God's character; very far from it indeed.

What morals were in this? 16. For he said, because the Lord hath sworn that the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation"! If the Israelites could not conquer the Amalekites otherwise, of course it was called prophecy, but written undoubtedly after full trial of the facts of time. Is man more than man; is mortal more than mortal? Moses was having many fold as historiographer, the best berth for the future.

The moderns will not take this into proper consideration.

He and his clique fixed up all the drama, being all in all with Israel-judge, dictator, master, and all that autocracy could ask for. What can equal the dictation of the oracles of the peculiar god of any country? They are uttered without restraint, and executed as expedient. Nothing on earth is equal to its power, and it carries all before it. The terrors of a French Directory are nothing to it. Has the world ever appreciated half its character? C. xviii. And Moses judged the people, making them to know the statutes of God, and his laws; but Jethro told him that the thing that he did was not good. 19. I will give thee counsel." The priest of Midian advised him to appoint his inferior judges, and himself the supreme judge of great matters. 24. "So Moses harkened to the voice of his father-in-law, and did all that he had said." Here then is an acknowledgment of the superiority of mind, though it is one priest advising another. The truth will speak for itself, and the defect of mind prevented a better condition of things.

Ch. xix. v. 5. Then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people; for all the earth is mine; v. 6. And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation." Would not the priestocracy delight to have the whole world in this position? But the God of the universe does not rule it that way. His conservative principles do not call for priests or angels, devils nor bibles of tradition. Moses went up to the mount unto God. All priest impostors had their secret places. The people were too vulgar to come near to gaze. They were not to know the mysteries. The dictators of the priestocracy were to be only in the secret. All the strikers were to keep at a proper distance, under the penalty of death. Who, then, but these dictators gave the moral and ceremonial law on Sinai? It matters not whether Mount Sinai was volcanic or not, as "Mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke-and the whole mount quaked greatly"; so that the people were smoked, and whether that voice was ventriloquism or not, as long as the dictators presided over the pen, and wielded the sword. That mind is to be

pitied at this day that pretends not to see what potency irresistible influenced the whole records. Are the Jew records any better than any other mythologists'? In what respect? Ask honest and truthful sense if it would not have been best to convince this rebellious people Israel, by the real majesty of Almighty God, than to have had such ineffectual means through their dictators, who were viler than the rabble? Would it not have saved the life of thousands, ay, of millions? But the hands of bigots have received the traditions of bigots, and they run wild with their pretences. Ch. xx. v. 19. "And they (the people) said unto Moses, speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us lest we die"! Mind, thou art watching the Jews-guard thyself. Awake. Was this not the very soul language of the priestocracy? If the people will not maintain their rights of mind, will the priestocracy do it, combined as they are against it? 24. An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, thy peace offerings, thy sheep and thine oxen. This verse conclusively proves that this bible was written by men, and not inspired by the God of the universe, who only requires pure adoration of mind, whereas the priestocracy desire the flocks of the people, and commit perjury to get them. Ch. xxi. v. 6. And his master

shall bore his ear through with an awl. Ch. xxii. v. 18. Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. 28. Thou shalt not revile the gods. 29. Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the first born of thy sons shalt thou give unto me. How most demoralizing is the bible in regard to some primary matters! But how about the chief matters of laws? Many are necessarily good, otherwise the whole had been easily exposed. But why seek to maintain an exploded system, that cannot be sustained in justice to mind? We prefer at once all that is due the world. Chapter the twenty-third is quite to the purpose of the priestocracy. 10 v. And six years shalt thou sow thy land. 11. But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still." How peculiar! This certainly came from their peculiar god. 20. Behold, I send an angel before thee to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared." This angel is to be truly obeyed, and then he will cut off the Jebusites and the other occupants of the soil. V. 24. Thou shalt not bow down to their gods: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images." Moses reserved to himself the right of coming to his god, who spake as Moses dictated, and he did as his book-makers ordered. They pulled the wires. It is quite curious to see how the nations were to be treated. 27. I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come. Ch. xxiv. v. 2. And Moses alone shall come near the Lord; but they (the priestocracy, &c.) shall not come nigh, neither shall the people go up with him. V. 3. And Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord." And Moses came as near the Lord as the people of Israel! 10. And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness." Wonderful description; mystified mysteries of the priestocracy. How much it enlightens the mind about God! 17. And the sight of the glory of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel." Was it any thing less than a volcano ?

But no matter; our author, Moses, can make it any thing.

13. And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua." Does Joshua help the truth, who could not tell it about the sun? 18. And Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights. Ch. xxxiv. v. 28. And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread nor drink water."

All this time? This was man's work. God acts by electricity, and in the time could have made several universes. What became of the one all that time? Of course, Moses and his coadjutors are convicted of libel of the God of the universe, wishing to substitute most ignominiously his peculiar god therefor. Has the world waked up yet out of its Mosaic sleep? Is it still in the vision of the priestocracy?

God ordered all the particulars about the altar, tabernacles, &c. Aaron and children, as priests, were to be clothed with very fine dresses, and Aaron to have a plate inscribed Holiness to the Lord. Moses was the master of the ceremonies, to consecrate and sanctify the priests." Moses was in fact the autocrat of the people, and the master of all the little despots. With such a power, despotic and absolute, as Moses had in priestocracy, he could do any thing with the people, the mass, and ingraft superstition so deep into them that it could not be gotten rid of for thousands of years. What can be a greater curse!

Ch. xxxii. While all these means of elevating Aaron as priest to the peculiar god of Israel, were progressing, he was making a calf-god for his ignorant people, and building an altar to it, to which they sacrificed. It was quite easy to change from one idolatry to another. This is a curious chapter of incidents, for Moses rebukes and re
