better than rely on the Author of mind, grace, mercy, and happiness, and its permanent abode? Let us seek that point where pure religion is, as she legitimatizes the whole elements of mind and its nature, to God and man.

What avail religion, if morals be deficient?

Mind only wishes such system that it can thoroughly, rationally, and most consis tently believe in; that can bring no tinge or blush for its advocacy, but the world's satisfaction for its most substantial adoption. Religion demands a most rational investigation, to have the most rational decision.

Then, look at the best bible of mind.

As to the heathen and Jewish priestocracy, all missed the true appreciation of religion and morals, as they were more or less removed from civilization.

Religion gives us the clearest view of life and its duties, and its platform is the only constitutional one of the world and mind, that renders the possessor and improver as good as practicable, knowing that he is right, and that the foundation, as the only one, cannot be shaken.

The world's organization on universal brotherhood, must and will prevail to a practicable extent. Have you looked into this thing, of religion that depends on pure and honest truth, above suspicion?

If we do not succeed in religion with mind, we cannot in anything else. Religion is a theme that no menial critic can say aught against, as he cannot do so by principles. As we have a system of constitutional government that legitimately carried out will answer the demands of civilized mind, so let us have a system that defines religion to which we may entrust our lives, fortunes, and sacred honor. Let us have no cause for distrust.

The pure religion of God is commanded to man, by the luminous disposition of rational mind. The supreme love to the God of the Universe is proved and demonstrated most clearly, by the love of mankind in one universal brotherhood. This is the religion of rational mind and civilization. What can uphold better the dignity of rational mind?

Religion is not contaminated by priestocracy.

Integrity and conscientiousness are ornaments in the religious platform of God Almighty. Good habits, laws, and principles, are its most worthy assistants.

Religion gives an exalted state of belief in God, not in mortals. We discard the bible of tradition to establish religion of the highest and purest order. Religion must be consistent to be rational, and asks for correction by rational discussion, unlike peculiar faith that precludes it by inquisition or proscription! Such sneaks from all proper responsibility, at the same time libels religion. All laws and acts to do the greatest good to the greatest number, that is to all, must be predicated on those principles that are immutable.

But can any refuse this sublime subject? What can be more important to harmonize the world's interests and feelings? It can furnish world-staples, as love, honesty, and truth, that constitute its essence. What better is there? Is there any bible but that of mind? Prove any other to be the word of God. This proof, will secure its suitable reward, for it embraces the munificent works of creation as the legitimate comprehension, and secures the due reverence to God, the Creator.

You become excited for the first time about religion, when invoked by the priestocracy, and seek to get what you only have to improve. But you adopt for granted, by impulse, not rationality, and you become committed. Nine-tenths do not investigate, or change to the right point.

Now all the world should first investigate by the bible of mind. There are some things above the world's criticism, as that of religion, that will revolutionize the world, no matter sects, creeds, and opinions.

The only union of religion is that to freedom, as the greatest theme for each individual mind.

In all governments of the present age, the sacred rights of all citizens will secure the only purity in religion. Religion should give universal harmony, but peculiar faith disorganizes the world.

The necessities of the world require true religion.

What is really practicable for man in this life, to obtain the most happiness? To attain the best position through the virtue, intelligence, &c., of rational mind.

Religion is thoroughly rational, and induces principles as the rule of action the purest, not fear, as peculiar faith has it. The principle of religion The principle of religion is involved in the elements of science and philosophy, all concomitants of mind, the beneficiary. Let the world start right, about religion. Let the first step be correct. mind to avoid everything that will make it principal or accessory to crime. While

She teaches

religion must be inherent in the human mind, peculiar faith must be expelled the world.

All the religion that the world has is right but all its bible peculiar faith is wrong. By mastering principles, you may master all the contingencies, and rule the unprincipled demagogues, agitators, and dictators of society, assuming to know what they do not. Let truth and honesty advance, no matter about the words of religion. What but religion presents the right sound opinion and sentiment, most beneficial to the world? What a poor thing if God had not bestowed the gift of religion, in all existence and age, to rational mind, that improved improves its state of religion, but had left it for fraction of existence and age to the contingency of Messiahship, that might have been unknown to the majority.

But how is it possible that mind should have possessed religion without revelation of God? That is the only reason that it does possess it in its purity. If God had not revealed it to mind, who could? But mind is so helpless! It is so in an absolute state of ignorance; but we must not merely reason from the past, but from the present and future, as regards the full knowledge of science.

At one time the world, by the dogmatism and despotism of peculiar faith, could orly get to peculiar gods, as the Jews and Christians, who were and are all more or less polytheists, having two, three, and four gods of peculiar characters all of them.

The true God, in perfect unity, has been unknown to most of mankind, to the present times, by perversion of mind.

How beautiful and sufficient is the system of religion, that is God-gift-a creation's birth-right—a fore full and satisfactory thought; whereas all others are contingent as after-thoughts-utterly ridiculous, absurd, and imbecile. It is the duty of all rational beings to analyze religion and mind; to know what mind requires. The analysis of mind gives us the analysis of religion. Do we go for religion? That is the reason that we go for a correct bible of mind, to attain perfect religion.

Impressions are everything that cause peculiar faith, and supersede facts. Now if the facts are not verified, of what avail or rational use is faith? Of course religion must take precedence of all bibles of tradition.

None but she gives

We ask for the sacred deposit of religion, to be kept inviolable. right impressions in time in this world. A good intention of the world's mind is to aid in all good undertakings, not exclude them.

Religion, as truth, must take precedence of faith, and cannot conflict at all with truth before rational minds. What is faith worth without faithful rational evidence ? Rational mind reveals religion, that teaches us that we have certain duties to perform, any how, in the greatest comprehension; that we must not speak undeservedly of the world, nor do it ill, much less think ill of the same. We must correct it-better itdo not make it worse; that is, we must act thus to ourselves. Religion is the high conservation awarded by Divine power, that protects all, and interferes with no speculation. She gives the efficient responsible power to endorse our actions-to have the proper and safe position.

The majesty of intellect is in religion. We only ask for all the legitimate fortitude of religion at the last final change. How shall we meet death?

By religion, that teaches that principles vindicate themselves in retributive justice. Religion makes all principled, then they must act consistently, and conform to immutable laws. This prepares the way for universal brotherhood.

The paramount question with the world is, what system or code will give the greatest number the greatest amount of morality and true vital religion, the best essence and element of happiness? Nothing but rational religion will, to be the true one. Then how can we best appreciate and secure it? Free rational discussion is the only way to attain all, in its purity.

Reverence the highest cause, as to discard the bibles of tradition, as most irreverent and usurping.

True religion never has been rightly advocated.

She involves justice, while peculiar faith flees it under the special plea of faith. By the authorization of religion, principles were made for all-the great conservatives to mind in all ages of the world. Religion puts us on the safe, the right side.

If honesty be one of the pillars of religion, peculiar faith then cannot exist at all, as it is untrue, a part of superstition. Religion makes all things right, hence the good must aid in the majesty of all proper laws and social rights. There is no black-letter Godwritten code of religion, but there is the counterfeit in man's bibles of peculiar faith. Do I object to religion? never, whilst my mind recognises duty to God and man. If the people do not have religion, they must have superstition, its substitute. They, in their ignorance, were never known to be without the last, therefore all should have

rational religion, the more civilized the more rational. But none of this admits bibles of tradition, Christianity, Mormonism, Mahomedanism, or any other peculiar faith. If you start such system, that begets more, and keeps the world always wrong. But religion established rationally, not peculiarly, begets more rational religion, the more the people are civilized.

With the true faith of religion you can have no sects, no polytheism, idolatry of man-worship, or images, atheism, no speculation or trade, for all will be between one's conscience and conscience's God, proved by action to man, proved by social good.

It is not only not wrong, but absolutely right.

Religion teaches to think first and last of your Creator, exclusively so as Creator and Preserver.

You can get the only pure religion from the purest fountain, which nature's God gave thy mind. He is represented by mind and conservative principles, as the powerful agents in the universe. Religion gives a social faith and confidence. It enables all minds to wish all the world to prosper, then it may prosper with all.

This position enables mind to see that the Creator of the universe is properly represented, not in a peculiar, but universal perfect power and character.

This is his character, support it godly, religiously.

No master's words, but God's principles, declare his own religion. The organization of the world's circle is to counteract wo, to comprehend happiness. Religion is national and universal, never sectional, but as lofty as patriotism prompts, to secure the order, peace, harmony and happiness of the world. It eschews pride, but ever adopts highmindedness. The mighty functions of time and supreme action over all, as the optimist, are hers.

Right and wrong, virtue and vice, sectarianism and religion, are not arbitrary distinctions, but have their lines of demarcation.

Among the beauty and munificence of mind, is one of the crowning virtues, forbearance; that includes a host of virtues that ripen the soul for eternity.

If rational faith be wrong, what faith, then, can be right? Matters of government have been submitted to the people on constitutional properties, why not religion, that would institute the proper energies of moral and social duties? Religion yields the inalienable imprescriptible rights of duty by reason of creation. She alone, in the solution of the mighty problem of the world, gives the excellency of enlightened civilization. This enlightened age should insure, on the best security, the most enlightened system of rational polity, for the most enlightened civilization. This is to render all satisfied, correct, and happy. How are the true ends of life attained? By the best of selfgovernment. What is government for? For the best interests of society, by a proper inherent protection of its organic bodies.

The highest attainment is rational freedom, that confers its principles to nations, illustrated by enlightened and refined civilization. The blessings of all are the highest practicable steps. The teachings of pure religion will cause God to estimate mind, as the noble character acting according to the best of its nature, not in reference to the traditional legends of obsolete bibles.

Who are infidel? They who know not religion, but should know that it is the highest duty to the God of the universe, and nothing less. She knows no God less than the Creator of the universe. The bible of tradition and religion! choose ye between them, as the one is distinct from the other.

It is the least of evils, the best philosophy, to resign ourselves to satisfaction under matters of equitable government, though they particularly bear on us whilst they correct greater evils elsewhere. Religion enjoins this much on us. Would you individually keep yourself forever in a passion for what you cannot alter, and which benefits others as the least of evils? To analyze religion, we must analyze the universe, as its relations can be comprehended by it.

Religion is not worship, but adoration, if rational, it has no peculiarity. Man is necessarily a moral, religious as intellectual being. True religion must and will meet the whole demands of conscience. Peculiar faith subverts them.

Religion directs all the affections legitimately, maintains the best equilibrium of mind in support of duty.

She has no burdensome and expensive ritual, no gorgeous priestocracy, no ceremonies and rites, no miracles, no prophecies, no mysteries, no pretensions, but all glorious realities of mind.

None but rational religion has ever been in all kinds of times, and all ages of the world, in all states and conditions of mind, for its creation's birth-right. It is the perpetual religion, that had a contemporaneous existence with mind. Man cannot invent

religion. Mere faith carries with it self-delusion, whereas rational religion carries with it satisfactory truths.

Why should there be penalties for society? If no more, the Supreme law of society, that of self-preservation, requires it. As the Creator is the one great Supreme standard for the universe, so religion must be the supreme standard for public opinion. What can be worse than a vague, miserable public opinion, based on no supreme conservative principles? The world, then, suffers. This helps to bring on irretrievable ruin.

Is the bible supreme over religion and mind? Rather, are not these supreme over the bible of tradition?

You seek to be pure with the best? Yes. The bible of mind comes to aid in the perfection of that purity. Why should there not be freedom in religion? Does it belong to anything but mind, the beneficiary? Some seek to act on mere temporal policy, to do the thing of intrigue and concealment, so as not to be found out! That is not the safe position. Do the thing of principle, on principle, to defy crimination of the world. It is not the being found out, but the competency to triumph over vice.

The noblest view, the highest value that is practicable by duty, is inculcated by religion. There can be no sanctification in peculiar faith, as religion only admits justification through grace, and mercy for hope.

We see merely one-sided views in the pulpit.

Rational discussion is the only fair position about religion, nothing short of it. Hers is no negative, but a positive position. The rational takes precedence of the irrational; it is not cold nor deficient, when it is the only thing expedient. It is the creation of God, the substantial reality for the embodied soul, in all its duties and affections. Ours is to build up and expose the subtleties and sophistries of the presumptive substitutes. The great defect and error in mind of all, are the partial action as to our duty, religionit lacks legitimate comprehension. There is an awful vacuum in morals and happiness, only to be met by mind in its wisest actions of legislation, rational education, &c. What a singular idea that classes of people are sanctified, have gone as high as faith can carry them.

Now let us correct the priestocracy. If mind had attained perfection in science and wisdom, it were all right, but as we know that it is otherwise, it is all presumption and

assurance.

The world has to adopt principles sooner or later, if it adopt justice. The world will not be right till mind be right, well educated and cultivated.

Reverence God's principles by reverence to mind.

In seeking after religion, we go for truth, to which faith and fable are in abeyance. One of the great secrets of life, of religion that imparts mental satisfaction, is to have no antagonism with the world.

How can the world avoid that? By the adoption of principles. It is rational education that teaches and enables individuals and nations to look to themselves independently. But for this, an insidious world will use them to the end of their lives.

Religion scorns the idea of idols or images in any respect whatever; it seeks not rites or ceremonies of faith, but goes in for the realities of mind.

Religion is rational, not cold, speculative philosophy, being part and parcel of all rational minds.

There is but one thing worthy of the name of religion, the pure adoration of Almighty God. Who had this? None connected with priestocracy.

Religion seeks the exclusive pure empire of God, who is universally supreme. The great essentials should be correctly appreciated in the world.

The social organization requires the perfection of religion in practice.

Religion is the best kind of law and justice, for the whole human family. The reverence due to God, and the paramount obligation to religion, have caused this work to be written. It is practical religion that is worth anything to the social relations of the world, that yields no individual hypocrisy, no rational aggression, no unnatural crimes, no world's distress.

It is of the utmost consequence that man have religion, and disavow all peculiar faiths for the best of reasons, universal brotherhood, that cannot be established without it. See the state of all peculiar sects that have deranged, dissociated and demoralized the whole world in all ages, and that cannot possibly be reconciled because they are peculiar.

Religion is all trust in the God of the universe, and the highest, most virtuous duty to society.

The elements of religion are in all rational minds.

The world has the best of reasons for rational religion to secure a universal brotherhood, to stop all the degradations of pretended prophecy, that may be any and every

thing that human piracy can make it. Pure religion is confined to no locality nor age, neither to sectarianism of Polytheism, Christianity, Judaism or Mormonism. Before Christ was even thought of, for thousands of years since mind's creation, religion necessarily existed as a part of mind.

The Creator managed all this by forethought, whereas the priestocracy has interpolated their puny peculiar faiths, most spurious coin of after-thoughts.

The great question with the world, lies between rational religion and peculiar faith, which may be Christianity, Judaism, Mahommedanism, Mormonism, but not religion. To reach this, revelation of the universe must be appropriately studied, and the proper adoption made. All the revelations of peculiar faith or tradition bibles, can never reach religion, the essential principles of which are the birth-right constituents of every mind.

The great question then is, rational religion or none.

Peculiar faith makes many revelations all peculiar, and many peculiar assumptions. Rational mind has rational faculties or means to attain its happiness. If God has designed a future state of existence for mind, most clearly it is improbable that the perfect Creator should have given several revelations to the world, and all so imperfect as not accomplish his object by a majority!

The main great

All persons ought thoroughly to know religion, none peculiar faith. question you and the whole world are concerned in, is religion. But all the bibles of tradition do not present the meagre pretence of justice to mankind. We may well say, what a libel on justice! Let it not be forgotten that morals, laws and government, of the right cast, are a part and parcel of religion, that no peculiar bibles ever yet presented.

As reformed faith advances benefits to the world, so will rational religion complete the position. Religion teaches the adoration of God alone, in his purity. What is sin? Any thing antagonistic to God's immutable principles.

One of the most abominable is that of the priestocracy, to render God's government divisible. This is contemptible. There is no legitimate ability to trade on the capital of any peculiar faith offered in the world.

Religion is to carry out the highest obligations of civilized society. The whole question of religion has never been truly solved, and the balance has been ignobly surrendered to peculiar faith, an unscrupulous usurper, which has to be discarded as a preliminary, solution by mind, ere the world be rightly brought to its relative and absolute position. The first English settlers of New England assume to have emigrated for religion, not for bible idols.

What promotes the first? Assuredly, not the last. Then the world is in error, enslaved by peculiar customs and habits. Religion bespeaks the purity of intention, and the intellectuality of design.

As to sectarianism, religion is not divided. When there is the spirit of division, religion is not there. Religion has no sectarianism. Wherever we see the last, the first does not exist at all. In the place of the bible of peculiar faiths, she uses what is available all the time in her utilitarian processes, in law, order and morals, establishes the noblest institutions practicable for the world, and has them most faithfully carried

out.

The Jew, Christian, Brahmin, Bhuddist, Mahommedan, and Mormon, are personally friends by direct commercial and world-interests.

Are these to be annihilated in useless and dangerous faiths, that never were worth an iota to the sovereign people, being mere devices to uphold dynasties oppressive to the people?

They seek to know what to be at. They must adopt, what rational men only can do. The whole world of peculiar faiths must lay them aside, and unite on the only platform practicable, given them by God, who is the eternal standard. The question of religion rises above all peculiar faiths. I go for the soul of religion, not the form of peculiar faith. The mere intellectuality of man will not do in all this matter, much less his opinion founded on the authority of other people's pretences. It requires the soul, the mind, and its best functions, to make him what he ought to be. Mind has not accomplished its mission, till it has solved the mighty question of religion through its highest rationality. With that, peculiar faith or its advocates, have nothing to do. But the term of religion some affect to be a re-binding again, as if man was ever cut loose from his existence, or the Author of his existence. He may adopt any absurd notion about faith, and affect to be under its superstitious protection, but that has not absolved him yet from abeyance to the Author of his creation, whom he thus constantly libels.

The world needs a sound, healthy, public mind. It can be only on the conservative
