Of course they cannot find any in any Messiah, as that is absurd and idle.

No Messiah short of Deity, could save himself at the last trying moment from the sin of blasphemy, how then save others by that heinous sin?

The world needs in religion an intellectual audience, tribunal or jury, to give a righteous verdict to God.

Most of the people, individually, lack several gifts of mind, by lack of its proper cultivation, in being able to analyze what is religion. The most are not competent in phrenological developments or mind, time, ability, to remove themselves from habits of thought, prejudices of education, customs, by want of maturity of science.

Then we must protest for anything but a fair and impartial analysis of this mighty question, as no man can be depended on from weakness of human nature, the ignorance and corruption of the age. Then, who can be satisfied without his own best exertions in this whole matter?

But the whole world seeks the mighty gift, religion, and where does it find it? Is it the gift of priestocracies and their peculiar faith? Or is it not the endowment of God at creation's birth, already possessed, but to be improved on for life?

Innate faculties of religion distinguish rational beings, the dignified character of the human species, from that of animals, and render them superior to all animated nature. Religion regulates the affairs of mind, that is in abeyance to God for man's happi

ness.

The only divine government is that of God, and all of men must be identified with principles constitutional, have the right means to remain enlightened as by the fountain source, rational education, and all pure educational influences, as the press, &c.

If government must be pure, what else can religion be? In her teaching and illustration, most conformity to science has to be established, as acknowledging the want and actions of mind.

If religion have any officers, their lives must be pure, else she degenerates into peculiar faith-trickery; but the whole people are the only officials. The claims of religion and ethics are verified as true, as relating to man by God, a paramount and universal, not peculiar divinity.

This characteristic, written by its Master's hand, on the Universe, does away entirely with peculiar bibles, people, or salvation, or messiahships, which doctrines have been forced on the minds of the people by various insidious pretences of priests, have been dove-tailed and are hard to be eradicated.

Sophistry that deceives the world in every age by her countless wiles, urges the false doctrine for the true, of which most minds, from peculiar education, cannot distinguish the difference, or are afraid to attempt the analysis, however sound their private individual skepticism. The absolutism of church and state, with all their powers, alarms them.

God, the guardian of mind, can tell how much of the world has rightly improved its religion, whether called pagans or christians, or any other name of sectarianism. He only takes the will for the deed.

It is time that no fraud should be tolerated about religion that can only be of God. It is the bounden duty of the principals of the world to institute a code of ethics, to see how far mind cultivated and civilized can universally reach to protect the rights of all. It is high time that it be done, as it is due the world.

The right code teaches honor to parents and country, principles and God, above all. The bible of mind teaches to regard the rights of the people paramount, those of priestocracies and hierarchies subordinate, and not to forbear in the presence of the world for absolutism.

Toleration of opinion with freedom, has perfected the great principles of true religion, that is incontestibly best secured by free and rational discussions in freest governments. The rational definition of man, then, makes him possessed of the innate faculty reflective of ideas of religion, that binds indispensably and innately to this Supreme Being, who has shown his supreme intelligence by thus engrafting into mind this inextinguishable faculty.

The certain consequence is, that the higher the cultivation of mind, the purer may be its religion.

Truly, then, is a brute animal defined to be a being without innate capacity of ideas of religion, or that has no faculty to develope or exercise them.

To this exact definition, mind, when perverted, is more or less degraded in part. Then there is no cognizance in sincerity of any mediator, for there can be nothing intermediate to mind but its adorable Creator, consequently, all offered as such, as Christ, Mahomet, Paganic, or Juggernaut, Confuciusic, Bhuddic, Mormonic, or any analogous, are imposters, and blasphemous pretenders by their imposition. The Almighty

shows his characteristic supremacy by preoccupancy of the whole ground through omnipresence, and his work is heralded by the Universe.

Thus the mighty question of mind is at once decided, and analysis declares the difference between the false position of peculiar faith, that is to be superseded by rational religion. In the first, we see polytheism deformed by man; in the last, the God of the universe portrayed in his master virtues. None but mind could see the God of the universe. Cultivated rational mind can see no mortal intercessor, as that is an imposition. Reason teaches this, and reason is truth.

The religion of God is for freemen; free agency-free action-and ennobles mind. Every person must attend to all final duty, ere life passes.

All things and works give a faith, in God alone.

All work into that universal belief; whereas all work out of peculiar faith, is unworthy of rational mind. You cannot drag a rational mind out of the belief in a God; you cannot drag the same into the belief of a Messiah, as you cannot drag it into an irrational faith.

All this is utterly impossible.

If the one be a principle, the other is antagonistical.

Now who has principles? their universal author, or the peculiar pretender adopting what is ready made to his hands? Conservative principles are concentrated in the right use and exercise of mind, that upholds religion as indispensable, but emanating from God.

Religion does not know anything of peculiar faith, but is sustained on rational faith, that is necessary, and must be supported by facts, truth, and reason.

What benefits accrue from affecting to feel religion, when peculiar faith predominates? Religion is the science of God-morals, and is the obligation the most enlightened due to God and mind, from mind, the noblest jewel of the universe.

What, then, is religion? Let liberal patriotism, enlarged to the world's circumference, one of its duties, tell the wisest statesmen.

All the world's books-a world's age-will only begin the momentous subject. This subject can never be booked; and after all the oriental dogmas, fables, and legions of myths are buried beneath the ruins of their crumbling temples, then will pure religion rise in her glory, as permanent as eternity.

We go for religion that must supersede peculiar faith. Where do we go for such religion? To rational mind, that belongs to rational beings, the emanations of Deity. We must start right at once with truth and honesty, then manners of courtesy and politeness, kindness and love, bounded by no peculiar faiths nor globe localities.

Minds, properly constituted, will throw aside envy and sectarianism, for the noblest theme of religion.

All rational beings improve religion, as all such have it as a faculty-the more reason the more religion-the more improved and cultivated the better.

All must seek rational cultivation, that is truth.

There is no rational being that has reasonable mind, and having rational actions, relying on the best lights of cultivated mind, that can miss religion.

Mind has it in thought, word, and deed; the better the more civilized and virtuous. There is no fiction in religion; that is a creation birth-right, and a life-tenure. Religion proves itself from God, and is mind felt, and universally beneficial.

How does feeling of religion truly decide, when the feeling of peculiar faith is deceptive and fallacious? Every mind must weigh well the character of equivocal morals, and of the means giving diffusion to them; the mind feels assured on its rational foundation of the only supreme standard that the mind of the universe can reach. The moral sublime endows mind with conclusive feelings.

Any religionist, so far from finding fault with rational discussion about religion, ought to seek it by all manner of means, to get rid of the errors of judgment, deliberately, unintentional or intentional, but otherwise unavoidable.

One outrage on mind is, that churchmen, members of any character of supposed power, should exclude such improvement. Mind that is rational seeks rational decision. The truest enjoyment of mind results in possession of religion, that can only be appreciated as rational, as joy results from even enthusiasm, but much more from rational grounds of truth.

Mind needs a universal religion, to give God alone his power and rights, and mind its duty.

Some persons, bigots of course, are alarmed at the bare mention of authors who have destroyed the foundation of their creed. There is something in the thing, not in the name. There was as much religion in Rome the ancient as in Rome the modern, flourishing in its horrid inquisition, illiberal and cruel excommunication of persons for

opinion, and dishonest confiscation of property. Which massacre is the least sinful, that by gladiators or that by inquisitions?

The walls of a Saint Peter, who flourished a saint in name, rise towering to God's mighty solar system, in the richest and most gorgeous architecture; but can all such reach the mercy-seat of the Almighty, as soon as if its costly prices were wisely dispensed to the suffering poor? This then is part of religion-duty to mankind and mind, that must be cultivated rightly, and humanized to civilization.

But few minds, where it is eminently the duty of all, investigate rightly the important points of religion.

The most important acts of one's life are, to pay due respect to religion, and be sure of the power to whom it is paid. How idle to spend one's life in superstitious worship, or anything short of pure adoration of God alone.

Religion appeals to mind's noblest and highest duties, in the use of principles that have done so much for the universe, but have been wofully overlooked for man-worship.

Religion is rational, and appeals to rational beings, through rational principles, and excludes dupes and hypocrites in faith most positively that has no particle of foundation, and bigots who affect to rule society by pretences.

Rational religion is the only one possible to exist, as all the rest is mere peculiar faith-the child of superstition and man-worship-the counterfeit of hypocrites who resort to smuggling.

Does not the world demand of mind not only a just but a generous--not only a wise but a liberal exposition of its capacity for religion? Religion is the true duty to God, that depends on nothing else than philosophical principles to its proper development, in reaching the right start-the Great First Cause.

Without analysis, some would suppose christianity was religion; others, that Mahometanism, and several that Mormonism was religion. Very clear of it all.

They have not the dignity of the name even; as they are all superstition and manworship; all humbugs, having no underpinning of religion. underpinning of religion. Was the predecessor of all these, religion? Was Judaism aught but priestocracy, with all its machinery? Judaism, a miserable sectarianism, was preceded by countless myriads of sectarianisms. The history of the world shows that one species of superstition has succeeded another -the polytheism of the moderns that of the ancients.

For centuries the christian peculiar faith was struggling for existence and power, till the power of the state, (then a monarchical autocracy,) of Rome breathed into it vitality. Mothers in seeking religion for their children, can only desire the best upright views for their tuition.

The liberal wise do not want superstition, or that which is connected to absolutism, to enslave and debase the human mind. Feelings short of rationality will never decide religion, that is certain, nor mere peculiar education; nothing short of the light of philosophical principles will answer. Principles, then, for ever!

All rational beings wish to be right about religion, not to be enslaved by superstition and the absolutism of its Church power, State power, and all its other malign powers. Religion is the most endearing of all, the most sublime of civilization. It preserves the noblest elements of friendship, and extracts the most beneficial results from the mirror of eternity, giving the solace of the first, and the wisest teachings of the last, to which it is not in abeyance under its own triumphant principles.

It teaches mind to discard pride, but adopt an elevation and dignity of character. It realizes the treasures of experience of life, and forbids their burial. It respects the real objects of generosity. It considers it absolute perfidy to impose knowingly on the world the interested and partizan acts of peculiar faith.

Peculiar faith is concealed, monotheism, is open and unpretending, and the purest monotheist comes the nearest of having the least cause of repentance.

Religion can never justify vassal slavery to faith.

Analysis of philosophical science proves religion due the God of nature, and disproves any peculiar faith.

Peculiar faith is sectarianism that has nothing to do with religion. The province of religion is to render mind correct and better, and to free it from contingency.

There is but one true religion having living witnesses to attest it. There are two paramount points: the first is what shall the affectionate parents especially do for their offspring, if they do not have religion?

But all rational beings have it by creation's birth-right.

The main point is its right improvement.

God has given it and mind to man. Mind must improve its free agency under the circumstances, the conservative principles of its creation.

None but true religion and its best improvement, will answer for the best civilization.

But as to investigation of religion, this is the last and least thing done. But little of absolute facts about religion, is investigated. The words of an interested and ignorant priestocracy, who neither know the nature of the God of nature, nor of mind, are taken for granted.

The main point, the object, the God of nature alone, is absolutely sneaked out of, and the parties are intentionally deceived. Religion is the comprehension of sacred duties, moral and intellectual, paid to the sacred Supreme, who has fashioned the universe in perfect wisdom.

Mind only needs a suitable audience to approve.

You inquire what are you to do for religion? You have it, and have only to exercise the principles essential to its proper cultivation, to approach the nearest to God. But the word of God is essential to carry us through life. Where is that word? In the purest recesses of an illumined mind, that has been enlightened by the most exact philosophical sciences.

We consider it the deepest impiety and blasphemy, to consider peculiar faith-scriptures as the word of God.

All need the living and essential principles of religion. Whether bible, law or constitution, morals or mind are respected, good faith is the essential of religion, their essential.

Some affect that the obligations of society are not attached to the highest duty of God. How can we duly respect God without duty to society of the best kind? The most honorable duty is implied, if not pledged by all its members, for the greatest good to all the greatest number, the foundation and essence of society.

What does God need of man? Implied duties of his position.

The world should be now thankful for the present age by which the light of truth is extracted from so much darkness. Conceive it, citizen, to be your noblest prerogative, to perform deeds equal to those of God in similar circumstances. Reason is then the

mighty fortress of mind, against which the adverse currents of life may beat in vain. True religion inculcates not the conformity of principles to thy peculiar faith, but thy peculiar faith to principles; then thou wilt be obliged to adopt monotheism or rational religion.

Religion dwells not in the heart, but in the mind, the soul of mankind. What is religion but the payment of duty we owe to God, to whom all such is due ?

How could we pay all, if we divided it with usurpers and priestocracies? Religion in the practical universal sense, is truthful faith and consistent action, not as a small part of one division, sect or denomination, but as the laws of God dictate. We wish to be right in religion. We depend on a moral and intellectual force.

Moral force to be available, must be rational and intellectual, to reach the foresight of results, and exclude ignorant fanaticism. Right religion is for intelligent freemen, but peculiar faith suits vassalage of mind. If there be nothing true and right to advance, science above all things is expedient, to maintain the principles of justice and mind. It is the province of religion to rationalize and generalize for this world, all her purest benefits. What is religion but the most sacred duty that mind owes and pays, to the adorable Creator of the universe, who sublimely holds sway by mind influence?

Anything that detracts from this, is a false and corrupt position. We have no bad feelings to any peculiar faith, but feel bound to do justice to rational faith, in good faith to our own souls. The highest obligations of society insuring proper actions, involve good faith, and that is religion. Religion cannot compromise her dignity with the peculiar faith of all bibles of tradition.

Any individual that has not truth, honesty and reason, has no showing of religious dignity.

There are various systems of faith, but can only be one of religion, as truth and principles do not clash, therefore it is the diamond among trash.

But these faiths had their martyrs, and so has atheism had; that proves nothing. Juggernautism, martial ambition and the evil passions have had millions of theirs. Martyrdom, then, must yield to reason in all analysis. But you have the true faith because you have the bibles of priestocracy! Because you have the bible of tradition, it no more follows that that entitles you to religion, than your being in a nominal republic secures you honorable liberty.

We wish all to go as far as the farthest legitimately advanced in religion. As to conscience, that is wofully perverted the world over, by peculiar education. Who is to set it right in religion? Priests, who have not improved the elements already possessed?

We might as well ask sharp lawyers who are partizans besides being proxy and

agents. Priests are peculiar faith-lawyers. Can the world be set right by such ? The conscience is at the mercy of the world whether fanatic, superstitious, or dishonest, as the adverse circumstances may decide, and can be only freed by liberal mind fund of philosophical science that imparts the right rational education. The exalted state of civilized mind, will make bibles of tradition an obsolete idea, and will establish the true progress of civilized religion.

No bibles of tradition can take precedence of the great inalienable rights of mind. Order and justice of the whole world are only obtained by properly cultivated mind, not by erroneous bibles from unprincipled and wicked men. Honorable men must go for the dignity of principles.

What power, gifts and magnificent elements of greatness has the world to rear, her noblest elevation, and yet she does not appreciate them.

What a sophisticated state of the world exists, when subject to perverted mind. In these enlightened times, we can have reforms of organic laws and constitutions, but minds made vassal to the most degraded absolutism, miserable bibles of tradition. Is the moral and intellectual force of mind to be broken down by bibles of tradition, the nuisances of the world?

No such bibles can over-ride moral and intellectual force that upholds social and political order.

Religion must embrace a moral and intellectual force, that to be valid, must embrace all the inherent principles, else it is not intellectual and legitimate.

It is high time to decide between peculiar faith and religion, the pretences of bibles of tradition and the principles of bibles of rational mind. These are world-wide questions for intellectual solution, and no bible of tradition can take us out of this life's difficulties, when the base is wrong, and all such are miserable failures because they are false pretences plunging us deeper into quagmire.

Mind that radiates the best of civilization, will do the work the best and only best. But you, bound to custom and its vassalage, can never lay aside man's pretences, and refer the great vital functions of principles to God.

Are not restraints and obstructions put upon religion?

What does that worse than peculiar faith, engendered by the bibles of tradition? As hope must be attended with possibility, religion looks to the practicability through God's attributes. She never places the God of the Universe in all manner of equivocal positions, as a peculiar god of man's creation!

Pure society is what the world needs, and that only pure religion gives. The world needs all religion that it can get, but no peculiar faith.

All that you want is religion, not false bibles, as the bibles of traditions. All the world needs in all religion is good faith, and nothing less, avoiding as it must, fanatic absolutism. No man knows what God said, except through cause and effect, that are appreciated by only what reason, truth, rational mind and honesty say.

Whatever system is God's, that mind can understand; hence, all lie that say, we cannot get the idea of the God of Creation from the Universe. We cannot get it from any other source. All such people must lie knowingly.

The greatest good to all the greatest number, involves all that belongs to society and religion, mind, and God, and courtesy to freemen.

Religion teaches implied honor in society; no half way action. Would she hesitate to accord to woman all the rights of soul that belong to the other sex?

To relieve the world of persecution, bigotry, false faith and doctrine, religion speaks through rational mind. Jew, will you for the sake of superstitution, still circumcise children? What can you promise yourself by this odious and degrading mutilation? The God of the Universe never did this! Your little peculiar God that was so fierce against the heathen in the conclave of priestocracy, did only as the Jew priestocracy dictated. Are you still enslaved to such vassalage? Grace, conscience, and mind, all go together in religion. These, not circumcision, give the hope of a religious man. Spare your children in this free country, this degradation. Do not enslave, debase their minds, mutilate their persons, or desecrate their rights.

God alone makes religion what it is. Society is to be instituted on the great principles of God, not the dogmas of man. Religion starts no subordinate question, but prepares man to meet all his duties as he ought, while peculiar faith disqualifies him all the time from commencement to the end, as he violates the first elements of religion towards God at once. The very moment peculiar faith advances, the systems of sectarianism begins and their elements of warfare are let loose. Religion begets the highest sense of duty, and recognises all's well that ends well.

She gives peace and equanimity, serenity of mind, to all that wish to secure the best moral certainty, and feel resigned to their situation and position. What can we do
