the New Testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.-2 Cor. iii. 3. 5, 6.

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power.-Eph. i. 17, 18, 19.

And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works.-Eph. ii. 1. 10.

For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance.— 1 Thess. 1.5.

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first-fruits of his creatures.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass. For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and con. tinueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.―James i. 18. 22-25.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should show forth

the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light,—1 Pet, ii, 9.

But

ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

in

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth you: : and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.-1 John ii. 20. 27.
