The study focused on the economic feasibility of rearing topminnows as bait for the skipjack tuna fishery in Hawaii. The project also investigated topminnow growth rates in a manured polyculture system. A comparative analysis between manured polyculture and monoculture production systems was performed. Results indicate that manured polyculture systems can be used to produce topminnows at reduced costs. It appears necessary, however, to modify the system by changing stocking density rates and using supplemental feed.
