From earth's wide bounds, from ocean's farthest coast, Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host, Singing to FATHER, SON and HOLY GHOST

Alleluia! Amen.

Processional for Easter.

79 HE is risen, He is risen!

Tell it with a joyful voice;

He hath burst His three days' prison;
Let the whole wide earth rejoice:
Death is conquered, man is free,
Christ hath won the victory.

Come, ye sad and fearful-hearted,
With glad smile and radiant brow;
Lent's long shadows have departed,
All His woes are over now,
And the passion that He bore:
Sin and pain can vex no more.

Come, with high and holy gladness,
Chant our LORD's triumphal lay;
Not one touch of twilight sadness
Dims yon glorious morning ray
Breaking o'er the purple east;
Brighter far our Easter feast.

He is risen, He is risen!

He hath oped the eternal gate:
We are free from sin's dark prison,
Risen to a holier state;

Soon a brighter Easter beam

On our longing eyes shall stream.

Three in One, let all adore Thee,

Saints on earth and saints in heaven;
Every creature bow before Thee,
Who hast all their being given;
Who by grace dost us restore;
Praise to Thee for evermore.

H

Amen.

How.

80 BRIGHTLY gleams our banner,
Pointing to the sky,
Waving wand'rers onward
To their home on high.
Journeying o'er a desert,
Gladly thus we pray,
And, with hearts united,
Take our heavenward way.

Brightly gleams our banner,
Pointing to the sky,
Waving wand'rers onward
To their home on high.

Hail! O JESUS, Master,
Round Thy Sacred Feet,
Here, with hearts rejoicing,
See Thy children meet.
Long alas! we've left Thee
Straying far

away,

Now once more we'll enter

On the narrow way.

Brightly gleams our banner, &c.

Mary, GoD's dear Mother,

Israel's Lily, Hail!

Pattern for CHRIST's children
In this sinful vale.
'Mid life's surging ocean
Whither can we flee,
Save to our blest SAVIOUR
Who was born of thee?

Brightly gleams onr banner, &c.

All our days direct us--
Make us meek and mild,

By Thy Childhood's Pattern,—

Mary's Holy Child.

Bid Thine angels shield us,

When the storm-clouds lower,

81

Pardon Thou-protect us

At death's solemn hour.

Brightly gleams our banner, &c.

JESU! Saints and Angels
With Thy Church combine,
Offering prayers and praises

At Thy glorious shrine:
When the toil is over,

Then comes rest and peace,
JESUS in His Beauty,-

Songs that never cease.

Brightly gleams our banner, &c. Amen.

ONWARD Christian soldiers,

Marching as to war,

With the Cross of JESUS,
Going on before.

CHRIST the Royal Master,
Leads against the foe,
Forward into battle,

Do His banners go.

Chorus-Onward Christian soldiers,

Marching as to war,

With the Cross of JESUS,

Going on before.

At the sign of triumph,

Satan's host doth flee,

On then, Christian soldiers,
On to victory.

Hell's foundations quiver,

At the shout of praise;
Brothers lift your voices,

Loud your anthems raise.

Chorus-Onward Christian soldiers, &c.

Like a mighty army,

Moves the Church of God,

Brothers, we are treading,
Where the Saints have trod;
We are not divided,

All one body we,

One in hope, in doctrine,
One in charity.

Chorus-Onward Christian soldiers, &c.

What the Saints established
That I hold for true,-
What the Saints believed
That believe I too.
Long as earth endureth

Men that faith will hold-
Kingdoms, nations, empires,
In destruction rolled.

Chorus-Onward Christian soldiers, &c.

Crowns and thrones may perish,
Kingdoms rise and wane,

But the Church of JESUS

Constant will remain ;
Gates of Hell can never

'Gainst that Church prevail,
We have CHRIST's own promise,
And that cannot fail.
Chorus-Onward Christian soldiers, &c.

Onward then ye people
Join our happy throng,
Blend with ours, your voices
In the triumph song-

Glory, laud, and honour,

Unto CHRIST the King,

This, through countless ages,

Men and Angels sing.

Chorus-Onward Christian soldiers, &c.

Gould.
