Last year we promised several technology accomplishments

For an FY88 budget of $100 M our major goals were to:

Upgrade the Laser Demonstration Facility to significantly
enhance enrichment testing capability

Continue life and reliability improvements for laser
system components to within a factor of 2 of plant goals
Optimize the design for uranium separators and
continue tests

Increase development of materials offering lower
separator capital and operating costs

The AVLIS Program is somewhat ahead of schedule on meeting these
goals, and has accomplished important progress in a number

of other areas:
