are impressed with the fullest conviction that the promotion of this Charity is eminently calculated to advance the cause of true Religion and Morality, not only among the immediate Objects of its Bounty, but also as it continues to engage the benevolent feelings and cordial co-operation of those to whom it is indebted for support; and they are anxious to extend its benefits to a greater number of the Children of the Poor of this Parish, from time to time, as the liberality of the Inhabitants may enable them.

They therefore earnestly solicit the support of those who have not yet subscribed to it, trusting that this statement will be found to speak so plainly and forcibly for itself, as to induce many to join them in this work of Christian Benevolence.

SUBSCRIPTIONS and DONATIONS are received by Mr. G. BARTRUP, 297, Holborn, Treasurer; and Mr. J. HAZELHURST, 10, Gray's Inn Terrace, Collector.

The following Form is submitted to those who may inclined to assist this Charity by Legacy.

"I give to the Treasurer for the time being of the Charity "Schools of St. Andrew, Holborn, the Sum of "for the better support of the said Schools; and direct "the same to be paid out of my Personal Estate."

RULES AND ORDERS.

A COMMITTEE having been appointed on Tuesday, March 1, 1814, to consider the RULES and Orders of the CHARITY SCHOOLS of Saint Andrew, Holborn, and to report thereon-and a General Meeting being called to receive that Report, It was Resolved, and confirmed at another General Meeting, held the 31st day of May, 1814, That the following should in future be the Rules and Orders of this Charity.

GENERAL RULES.

1. This Institution is under the direction of a President, Treasurer, Twenty-four Subscribers, and the Stewards for the time being of the Annual Dinner, who are a Committee for the regulation of the affairs of this Charity: Twelve of the Twenty-four Subscribers forming a part of this Committee, go out, annually, by ballot.

2. An Annual Subscription of one Guinea, or more, constitutes a Subscriber.

3. Fifteen Guineas, or more, paid at one time, or within the year, constitutes a Subscriber for Life.

4. Every Subscriber presents a Child in Rotation, as vacancies occur; but no Person, whose Subscription is more than One Year in arrear, has a right to such Presentation, or to vote at any Election, till it be paid; provided proper application has been made for payment.

5. There are Two General Meetings in every viz., on the first Tuesday in March, to receive the Auditors' Report of the Treasurer's Accounts; and on the

first Tuesday in August, to elect the Committee; and for such other Business as may be brought forward relative to the Charity. Seven to form a Quorum.

6. The President and Treasurer are Members of all Committees.

7. There are five Trustees for the Fund.

8. There are also five Auditors.

9. A Collector is appointed to receive Subscriptions for the Charity, who is allowed One Shilling in the Pounds for collecting, and gives security in the Sum of One Hundred Pounds.

10. Regular Notice is sent to all the Subscribers of the Day the Anniversary is to be held at St. Paul's; and the Eighty Tickets allotted by the Society of Patrons to this School, for admission into the Cathedral, are to be delivered by Two or more of the Committee on the Monday previous to that day, to such Subscribers as shall apply personally, or by letter, at the School-house, in Hatton-Garden, at Eight o'Clock in the Morning, at which time the ballot will take place.

11. The President, Treasurer, Five of the Committee, or Twelve of the Subscribers, may call an Extra General Meeting whenever deemed expedient; the particular object of such Meeting to be stated in the Summons.

12. None of the Rules of this Charity may be altered, but at a General Meeting specially summoned for that purpose; and the Business that is to be brought forward stated in the Summons.

13. There is an Anniversary Dinner of the Subscribers, conducted by the Stewards.

14. No Books are to be introduced into the House or School which are not sanctioned by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge.

COMMITTEE.

15. The Committee meet the first Tuesday in every Month; and at the first Meeting after their Election, they appoint a Sub-Committee from their own body, to superintend the education of the Children, of which the officiating Clergy, being subscribers, are always Members; another Sub-Committee to superintend the Concerns of the House, and any other they may deem necessary; and such Sub-Committees report their Proceedings to the General Committee at their Monthly Meetings.

16. The whole management of the Charity is in the Committee: they order every thing necessary for the House and School, call in the Bills quarterly, check, and three or more sign them, previous to their being paid by the Treasurer; and place the Children to such Masters or Mistresses as they may deem proper.

TREASURER.

17. The Treasurer receives and pays all Moneys on account of this Charity; and enters the same in a Book kept for that purpose.

18. He examines the Receipts by the Book of Subscriptions, and signs them previous to their being delivered to the Collector; and delivers to the General Meeting in March, with his accounts, a Statement of the Receipts and Expenditure of the Charity, under proper heads, which is published with a List of Sub

scribers.

AUDITORS.

19. They audit the Treasurer's Accounts; a Statement of which is submitted to the General Meeting, previous to its being printed.

COLLECTOR.

20. The Collector keeps a regular corrected List of Subscribers; and lays the same before the Committee, when required, for their inspection.

21. He makes out the Receipts from the Book of Subscriptions; as also Two Lists, one for his own use, and one for the Treasurer; collects the Subscriptions, and pays the same to the Treasurer; and attends the Treasurer and Committee whenever required.

MASTER AND MISTRESS.

22. The Master and Mistresses of these Schools must be of sober life and conversation, and Members of the Established Church. No married woman can be Mistress of the School.

23. They must pay strict attention to the Instruction and Behaviour of the Children; and on all occasions accompany them to and from Church, unless prevented by illness be careful that they behave in a proper manner while there, and also in walking to and from Church; they are to attend all Committee and Sub-Committee Meetings; and do all other Business relative to the Schools which shall be required by the Committee. They attend in their Schools from Eight to Twelve o'Clock in the Morning, and from Two till Five in the Afternoon, from Lady-day to Michaelmas; and from Nine till Twelve in the Morning, and from Two till Four in the Afternoon, from Michaelmas to Lady-day; but in order to afford them and the Children some relaxation, the following Holy-days may be kept, viz., a Fortnight at Christmas; a Week at Easter, Whitsuntide, 'and Bartholomew-tide; the King's Birth-Day; the Martyrdom of King Charles the First, the Restoration of King Charles the Second, the King's Accession, the Fifth of November, the Lord Mayor's Day, the Afternoon of every Saint's Day, and the whole of Saturday.
