And this Succeffion of Motion I am at prefent perfuaded may be obtain'd, if it is fet on Foot at a Seafon of the Year when the Land Waters will furnish us with enough to fill the Refervoirs mention'd; and that there may be an Equipoife in the Buckets working up and down the Chains I have already seen two Inftances.

An Account of fuch Inventions as are now in Ufe, or may be practifed with Succefs, for the forwarding of Fruits and Flowers, and the Prefervation of Exotick Plants, by Means of Fire in the Winter.

N my foregoing Papers I have hinted at those artificial Heats for the Ufe of Gardiners, which are occafion'd by Fermentation; but it will now be my Business to treat of fuch Confer vatories for the Prefervation of Plants in the Winter. The firft I shall mention is a Contrivance for forwarding the ripening of Grapes, and is likewise useful for preferving fome of the lefs tender Exoticks. This indeed is fomewhat vary'd according to the Humour of the Architect; but I think all those Variations are nearly alike fuccefsful.
