I PAUL, aan apostle of Jesus Christ by the willa 1 Cor. 1. 1. of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of Col. 1. 1. God which is at Corinth, bwith all the saints which Tim. II. 2 are in all Achaia: grace be to you and peace from b Phil. 1. 1. God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 d Blessed be God, even the Father of our Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of Col. 1. 2. 4 all comfort; who comforteth us in all our tribulation, 2 Thess. 1. 2. that we may be able to comfort them which are in any 1.3. trouble by the comfort, wherewith we ourselves are 1 Pet. 1. 3. 5 comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ e Acts 9. 4. abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Col. 1. 24. 6 Christ. And whether we be afflicted, fit is for your fch. 4. 15. consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation 7 and salvation. And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, sog Rom. 8. 17. 8 shall ye be also of the consolation. For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of hour trouble which h Acts 19. 23. came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of mea- & 16.9. sure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even
