And must I part with all I have,
My dearest Lord, for Thee!
It is but right! since thou has done
Much more than this for me.

Ten thousand worlds, ten thousand lives,
How worthless they appear,

Compared with Thee, supremely good' Divinely bright and fair.

Thy favor, Lord, is endless life,

Let me that life obtain,

Then I renounce all earthly joys,

And glory in my gain.

"HOW HARDLY SHALL THEY THAT HAVE RICHES ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD."

Lord, forever at Thy side

Let my place and portion be;
Strip me of the robe of pride,
Clothe me with humility.

Meekly may my soul receive,
All Thy Spirit hath revealed;
Thou hast spoken; I believe,
Though the oracle be sealed.

Humble as a little child,

Weanèd from the mother's breast,

By no subleties beguiled,

On Thy faithful word I rest.

Israel now and evermore,

In the Lord Jehovah trust;
Him, in all His ways adore,
Wise, and wonderful, and just.

Jesus, engrave it on my heart,
That Thou the one thing needful art;
I could from all things parted be,
But never, never, Lord, from Thee.
Needful is Thy most precious blood,
To reconcile my soul to God;
Needful is Thy indulgent care;
Needful Thy all-prevailing prayer.
Needful Thy presence, dearest Lord,
True peace and comfort to afford;
Needful Thy promise, to impart
Fresh life and vigor to my heart.
Needful art Thou, my guide, my stay,
Through all life's dark and weary way;
Nor less in death Thou'lt needful be,
To bring my spirit home to Thee.
Then needful still, my God, my King,
Thy name eternally I'll sing!

Glory and praise be ever His,
The one thing needful Jesus is!
