What foreign nations will you be talking to in seeking
participation?

We will initially be talking primarily to the Economic Summit
Countries (Italy, Japan, Canada, France, the Federal Republic of
Germany, and the United Kingdom).

Question:

Answer:

What are the strengths of each of these nations in relation the
SSC project?

In addition to a long tradition of collaborating with the U.S. in high energy physics research, they have the economic, industrial, scientific resource base and capability to make a contribution to the SSC program.

Question 4:

Answer:

What is your goal for the dollar value of foreign participation in the SSC project?

The goal is to maximize contributions from non-Federal sources. The State of Texas will contribute up to $1 billion for the construction of on-site facilities and other SSC systems. The Department is seeking the remainder from other nations, and is beginning negotiations as early as June 1990. Although the goal is to obtain up to one-third from non-Federal sources, a
