TH

HE Committee appointed by the Assistant Bishop of New York has authorized the publication of this Hymnal, with the hope that it may be useful in the coming Mission, in Advent. It has drawn from several sources, but principally from a book of the same character published in England under the supervision of the Rev. WM. HAY M. H. AITKIN. In selecting from the Hymnal authorized by the General Convention, as far as possible regard has been paid to the expressed wishes of the Clergy. Of course many excellent hymns have been omitted from this collection, but the number could not have been increased without making the book too unwieldy for popular use. After a most careful consideration of the whole question, the Committee feels that this Hymnal will be found helpful in a majority of parishes that will take part in the Missions to be held in the City of New York and elsewhere during the coming year.

INDEX I.

No.

First line.

1 All hail the power of Jesu's Name.

3 And can it be that I should gain.. 4 Arise, my soul, arise..

5 Art thou weary, art thou languid. 6 At even, ere the sun was set...

170 Awake, my soul, stretch every nerve..

7 Behold the Lamb of God...

3 Behold the Saviour of mankind..

9 Beneath the cross of Jesus... 98 Breast the wave, Christian..

10 Bride of the Lamb, awake, awake. 66 Christian! dost Thou see them?..

11 Come, every soul by sin oppressed.. 12 Come home! Come home!

13 Come, let us arise, and lift heavenward. 14 Come, let us join our cheerful songs.. 15 Come, let us sing the Song of songs.. 16 Come let us to the Lord our God.. 17 Come, O thou traveler unknown... 18 Come, sinners, to the Gospel feast. 145 Come Thou Fount of every blessing. 19 Come to Jesus! Come away..

20 Come to our poor nature's night 21" Come unto Me, ye weary". 22 Come, ye sinners, poor and wretched. 23 Depth of mercy! can there be.. 147 Father whate'er of earthly bliss.

25 Glory be to Jesus....

26 Glory to God on high...

27 God loved the world of sinners lost.
28 God the Father, God the Son.

29 Go, labor on: spend, and be spent...
24 Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah.
30 Hail, Sovereign Love, that first began
31 Hark, hark, my soul, angelic songs are..
32 Hark, how the watchmen cry..

33 Hark, the voice of Jesus crying..
34 Head of the Church triumphant.
35 He leadeth me! O blessed thought.
36 Ho! every one that thirsts, draw nigh...
37 Holy Ghost, come down upon Thy children..
105 Holy offerings rich and rare..

39 How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds..

40 I am coming to the Cross.

41 I am Thine, O Lord; I have heard Thy voice. 42 I have sinned, Thou know'st how deeply.

43 I heard the voice of Jesus say..

44 I heard the word of love..

45 I hear Thy welcome voice..
46 I lay my sins on Jesus..
47 I need Thee, every hour,.
48 In evil long I took delight..
49 In God I have found a retreat..
