Lord Portsmouth has purchased the yearling Brother to Mincepie, and the colt by Wild Dayrell out of Cruiser's dam: the former is

named Plum Pudding, and the latter The Buccaneer-Mr. Ten Broeck, Lord Stately and Barbarity for 500 guineas each, with cer tain contingencies; and also Little Cob. H. Goater has sold Ham into C. Thorpe's stable; Capt. Delmé, Sniff into Rogers' stable; The stallion St. Benuett has changed hands for a "fiver;" and Gorsehill is sold to Capt. Powlett, to go to Ireland

The stallions Criterion and Orestes died during the past month, as well as the two-year-old Scout, by Cossack out of Athol Brose; and the colt foal by Tadmor out of Wild Dayrell's dam.

Chapple, the jockey, died at Newmarket, in the sixty-third year of his age. A portrait, and full memoir of him, appeared in the January number of the magazine for 1852. There is nothing to add to it.

The racing of the month has still been in favour of Sir Joseph Hawley. A combination of circumstances have found for him another strong Derby favourite in Musjid ; while Fitz Roland's more recent doings will make him, sooner or later, a great horse for the Leger. Nevertheless Mr. Howard's stable must yet be marked "dangerous.' Eclipse, after having been condemned outright at Doncaster, was not so far from winning the Derby; and Sedbury, after being still more disrespectfully spoken of at Epsom, proves himself at Ascot once more a first-class race horse. form" may come again.
