In Alpha, Jens Harder takes the reader on a graphic operatic journey, beginning with the nano-seconds following the Big Bang through the next 14 billion years. He uses a cinematic style to show every step, with imagery taken from popular culture, archaeology, science, film and art sources, charting the long course of biological evolution. Alpha is the first in a graphic novel trilogy covering the world and mankind's evolution, beginning with a speck in the sky and ending with the rise of the Neanderthal.

Over de auteur (2015)

Jens Harder, born in 1970 in Germany, studied graphic arts in Berlin. In 1999 he founded an art group called "Monogatari". He published Ruwen Strips Naked and Aéra in 1999 Hotelführer Neue Mitte and Electricité Marseille in 2000. His other work includes: Leviathan (2003) and The City God (2006). A monograph on Jens Harder's work was published in 2007 under the title MIKROmakro. Alpha is the first volume of a trilogy, upcoming are Beta 1: Ancient Civilizations and Beta 2: Modern Civilizations.
